Position Description Summary

APT Research is looking for a JR System Safety Engineer to support both NASA and commercial human spaceflight contracts. Applicants should have some Human Spaceflight, Commercial Space and/or NASA experience.

Required Minimum Education/Experience:

• Candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent technical degree and 2-4 years experience.
• Hazard Analysis and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis experience
• Critically Important: Energy, attitude, and proactive spirit are a must!
• Critically Important: Ability to remain perpetually curious!
• Must be able to work in an inclusive and communicative team environment (within both large and small teams), both internal employee's and with customers present
• Possess an interpersonal style that enhances productivity, promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and maintains effective working relationships with other organizations and customers.
• Ability to use effective communication and facilitation skills to gain support, influence thinking, and/or resolve concerns and conflicts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate well with different levels of management, including presentation skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment and deliver high quality products on schedule.

Preferred Experience:

• System Safety experience in the aerospace industry, system safety experience at a NASA Center highly desired.
• Experience in a commercial space program a plus

Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%).

Requires sitting for extended periods of time (100%). Include whether requires ability to lift so many lbs. or any special requirements.

Other Essential Functions

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
