Essential Functions:

o Assist physicians/physician assistant in IR procedures and provide diagnostic aid by conducting organ or body scans on patients

o Coordinates material management activities including setting up vendor accounts, managing supplies, assisting in contract negotiations for savings, and maintaining appropriate levels of necessary supplies for patient care

o Assist with maintaining necessary inventory and supplies.

o Able to identify all procedure related supplies and appropriate use.

o Ensures that all supplies are accurately documented and entered in the RIS/Inventory system to maximum reimbursement and appropriate patient billing.

o Verifies expiration date on all supplies prior to opening.

o Rotates stock by using oldest stock first to decrease expired items

o Able to identify and describe the different components of IR CPT coding and billing.

o Able to explain basic coding guidelines as the apply to IR coding

o Maintains a high technical competency level in multiple imaging modalities (CT, Ultrasound, and Fluoroscopy)

  • Demonstrates competency and ability to operations ancillary equipment related to invasive procedures (thrombectomy systems, radiofrequency ablation units, cryo-ablation units, , power injectors, and other ancillary imaging equipment as trained and assigned)
  • Reviews patient records, contrast related lab values and other documentation to ensure continuity of care
  • Report all patient related concerns to management and/or the IR provider as appropriate
  • Understands and able to explain procedural related indications and contra-indications as it relates to the care of the patient.
  • Demonstrates a high level of competency in vascular anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, US imaging, and other related procedures
  • Able to identify risks and adverse reactions related to patient care
  • Conducts a patient assessment prior to all procedures. Verifies patient allergies prior to exams
  • Participates in the diagnosis and treatment of invasive procedures
  • Assists the Interventional Radiologist and nursing team during interventional procedures (Angiography, CT guided biopsies, US guided biopsies, drainages, etc.).
  • Demonstrates ability to operate digital vascular equipment, Ultrasound equipment, and Computed Tomography, and identify all system components without direct supervision
  • Knowledgeable of basic functions of PACS, RIS/EMR, and other computer applications/systems. Able to utilize these systems to obtain information related to patient care.
  • Adheres to all patient safety and labeling policies/protocols.
  • Maintains sterile environment and aseptic technique for all procedures.
  • Knowledgeable and adheres to Patient Identification policy

o Observe patient during procedure and report abnormal activity

o Utilize equipment and techniques specific to diagnostic and invasive radiology imaging procedures

o Adjust and control complex imaging equipment in order to optimally and present the area

o Administers and records contrast/isotope dosage in accordance with established departmental protocol

o Records fluoroscopy dose and follows ALARA guidelines set by Radiation Safety Committee

o Conducts daily QA checks on all imaging equipment and maintains appropriate regulatory documentation or compliance

o Clean procedure room and all equipment between patients.

o Employee participates in on-going learning and demonstrates application of it in his/her role.

o Actively seeks opportunities to develop professionally and personally.

o Coaches and mentors others relating specific aspects of the job.

o Fosters and encourages a receptive and nurturing environment by actively contributing to the education activities of patients, family members, coworkers, and physicians

Qualifications:

Education: High School graduate or GED. Graduation from an approved program in Radiology Technology.

Required Credentials: - Active Texas State RT certification (TX-RT-CERT). - Active ARRT certification in Radiological Technology (ARRT-R). - Current BLS Healthcare Providers. Preferred: - VIR (Vascular-Interventional Radiography) registry, CT experience

Experience: Preferred: One or more years clinical experience as an Interventional Radiology Tech

Skills/Knowledge: Good interpersonal, technical skills and flexibility in assignments. Good bedside manner

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.00 - $37.00 per hour
