MTC is currently seeking candidates interested in a Intelligence Officer position. This position is responsible for the investigative work, identification and validation of gang members, and conducts detainee investigations. Provides instruction to staff on report writing, crime scene and evidence preservation, gang identification, monitoring of potentially disruptive detainee, and the narcotic prevention program, in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.

Essential Functions:

• Coordinate with staff on the receipt and analysis of gang information.
• Monitor detainee files for investigative purposes.
• Compile and analyze data to prepare reports and maintain related records.
• Respond to emergencies and institution disturbances.
• Supervise and conduct in-depth investigations of incidents which involve criminal activity within the facility. Establish rapport with federal, state, and local law enforcement.
• Identify narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia.
• Utilize proper search procedures to persons and property when checking for contraband items.
• Assess and evaluate the facility’s security requirements; make appropriate recommendations for improvements or modification to the deputy warden.
• Oversee the gathering of evidence and testimony. Establish case history of incidents and prepare comprehensive, timely, and efficient reports.
• It is expected that the incumbent will work overtime, when directed to do so.
• Required to make regular round so the facility which includes long periods of walking and standing.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
• Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.

Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years’ experience in an adult correctional environment or related field required. One (1) year prior investigations experience desired. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of computer software applications, narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia, report writing, and gang related information preferred. Fluency with speaking, understanding, interpreting, and reading the Spanish language required.US Citizenship required. Must successfully complete required pre service training. Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
