World Relief seeks a Ukrainian speaking Program Specialist who will help assess the needs of U4U arrivals and connect them with the most appropriate programs or resources. The Intake, Assessment and Referral (IAR) Specialist will conduct assessments, connect families with the services and support they need, provide follow-up and support including interpretation for those clients as they connect with services and programs, and work with team members to network and identify resources.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Monitor a line dedicated to outreach to UHPs
  • Call or meet in office with newcomers and prospective program participants
  • Conduct Intake, Assessment, and Referrals
  • Collect relevant information and upload into database
  • Learn and be able to communicate program objectives and services available.
  • Provide interpretation and act as cultural broker when necessary between parties
  • Translation of documents and some video recordings for program participants who are pre-literate to ensure they fully understand the programs they are participating in and the expectations for them and for their case managers or other world relief representatives.
  • Provide coaching in group or individual context to empower clients to thrive without requiring agency intervention
  • When appropriate, provide transportation or assist client with arranging transportation to medical or other social service appointments
  • Teach or interpret for initial and extended cultural orientation and other group education
  • Collaborate and assist with planning carrying out activities that would be culturally and linguistically relevant, to the end goal of seeing participants empowered to thrive in Spokane.
  • Document and record plans, activities, outcomes and follow-up
  • Attend regular meetings and check-ins with WR teams
  • Collaboration with community stakeholders serving or interested in serving UHPs
  • Have an excellent understanding of World Relief’s mission, so as to accurately and competently communicate this mission to external parties;
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to ask questions
  • Comfortable with and experienced using computers and basic Microsoft programs
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, Russian and Ukrainian

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations
  • The ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-15 pounds.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.
  • Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.
  • Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.
