The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for a seasonal Ingredient Weigher at our Toma-Tek facility in Firebaugh, CA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

Summary: Responsible for weighing ingredients according to established recipes and all required documentation for formulation of products. Ensures that Good Manufacturing Practices Policies (GMP’s) Safety and Health Hazard Analysis and Critical Control (HACCP) procedures are being followed. This is a seasonal, non-exempt, union position, supporting our fresh pack season, typically June – October.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for weighing spices and other ingredients for formulated products from recipes provided.
• Calibrate scale at the beginning of shift, prior to use.
• Identify the different types of spices.
• Responsible for clearly and correctly writing documentation for ingredient traceability.
• Responsible for correctly making mathematical conversions from lbs., oz., grams and gallons.

Requirements:

• Requires a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), or at least one-year relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Able to do mathematical conversions of lbs., oz., grams and gallons.
• Ability to read and speak English and maintain a Daily Production Log Book.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

Compensation:

The hourly union wage is $16.
