ASRC Federal Data Solutions is seeking an Imaging Technician (IATSE) in support of the Kennedy Infrastructure Applications and Communications (KIAC) contract at Kennedy Space Center.

Under general supervision, work with a team of Engineering Document Center (EDC) and other KSC organizations by cataloging, classifying and processing Drawing Release Authorization (DRA) documents and images into the Kennedy Engineering Documentation System (KEDS) database.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Convert microfilm, microfiche and aperture cards into digital images for storage in document management systems.
  • Prepare and upload release documents in Portable Document Format (PDF) fixed-layout, native format electronic, and scanned images.
  • Validate for accuracy on Document Release Authorization (DRA) and add determination sheets if requested.
  • Build current revision level by extracting and inserting new revised pages.
  • Flatten electronic PDFs, rename files, brand document number and page number of PDF and upload into KEDS.
  • Utilize Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software for digitizing text so that it can be electronically edited, stored, searched, retrieved or displayed on-line.
  • Visual and electronically check documents for errors and unsure accuracy.
  • Maintenance of engineering drawings, microfilm, scanning, indexing, hyperlink documents, and convert documents into Compact Disc – Read Only Memory (CD-ROM) or other media.
  • Create Compact Disc/Digital Versatile Disc (CD/DVD) distribution.
  • Paper documents/drawings are scanned and converted into searchable PDF format.
  • Upload documents, scanned images from microfilm into KEDS, scan documents from aperture cards and download images for CD/DVD requests.
  • Perform minor software maintenance.
  • Maintain compliance with the Copyright Law of the United States.
  • Provide, update and maintain all required documentation, reports, and logs etc., manually or in electronic databases.
  • Make recommendations to improve work quality, efficiencies, and productivity.
  • Adhere to OSHA, NASA, company and customer safety requirements.
  • May assist in training others.
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
  • Including but not limited to the following computer applications products such as Microsoft Office, work order/management systems, several engineering documentation databases, and other standard business office equipment.
  • Uses document scanner and scanning software. Operate equipment to produce CD/DVD images.
  • May require standing or setting for prolonged periods.
  • Requires stooping, bending and stretching, eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, copier, scanner, printer, telephone and other office equipment.
  • May require lifting 30 – 50 pounds.
  • Ability to resolve problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
