Human Resources Generalist Job at Altra Industrial Motion Corp.
SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist will support all business functions in Radford, VA in all aspects of Human Resources including recruiting, employee relations, onboarding, benefits, compensation, training, policy interpretation/implementation and performance management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create recruitment strategy and implementation for hourly and salary operations positions using Kollmorgen standard work processes including external posting of positions, evaluations of candidates, recommendations to hiring managers, and interpretation of hiring assessments.
- Supports the good faith recruiting initiatives outlined in the annual Affirmative Action Plan
- Engage in compensation analysis of new and open roles.
- Day-to-day employee relations including problem solving, counseling, coaching, fact finding, and benefit issues.
- Monitor and support the annual hourly, progression and salary performance management processes.
- Partner with HR Business Partner on workforce disciplinary and performance improvement processes.
- Partner with and support HR Business Partner on engagement action planning initiatives and monitoring of action plan completion.
- Assist in open enrollment information sessions and employee elections.
- Answer employee questions and assist with HR programs, policies, wellness benefits as well as accommodation and leave programs.
- Interpret policies and make recommendations for changes.
- Engage in design and presentation of HR related topics for the monthly news conference and policy deployment meetings.
- Various projects involving analytical and research work, i.e. legislative changes and HR trends across industries.
- Along with those identified above, other duties may be assigned.
Job Requirements:

- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws in employment.
- Ability and willingness to solve employee relations issues
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Organization and time management skills

- Continuous improvement approach to processes
- Highly ethical and able to maintain confidential information
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Psychology, Human Resources or related degree required
- Masters in Human Resources or Industrial Relations Preferred
- HR Certification is a plus
- 1-3 years’ experience in Human Resources preferred. May include experience gained through internships.
