Human Resources Generalist Job at A-C Motor Express
HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST / DIRECTOR & SAFETY DIRECTOR for a 75 staff, family-owned trucking company in West Springfield. Hours of operation are Sun 8 pm thru Fri 6 pm. The 45-50 hour work schedule will fluctuate somewhat as needed to participate in company life and complete your job effectively.
Number one requirement: fluent in HR Regulations and most especially all of the paid time off regulations including but not limited to FMLA, COBRA, MA PFML and ADA.
Additionally, 5 yrs hands-on experience in H.R. for a company greater than 50 employees required, familiarity with D.O.T. Regulations, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Safety: Run periodic safety committee meetings, review vehicle accidents, coordinate safety program and rewards with other staff, and process and handle worker injuries through return to work. Reinstitute annual safety rodeo competition, run by safety committee.
The ideal candidate will have a general idea what needs to be done in all things HR and Safety without a job list, even though we have checklists and procedures, brings program ideas to management, and is confident enough that if they need help, they will ask for it.
We are looking for someone to take us to the next level of organizational improvements and teamwork. They take the ball and run with it. They are detail oriented, creative, proactive, imaginative and know how to get things done in a broad area of HR and Safety. They have strong organizational, critical thinking and communication skills. They will ensure we follow current laws, have strong recruiting skills and have demonstrated ability to improve talent acquisition and onboard new hires, performance correction and follow through, most especially on new hires. They will interact with our staff and encourage a team environment, including new programs that will improve us on multiple levels. Duties will include all aspects of employee performance including hiring, training, counseling, firing, maintaining employee and D.O.T. files. Accurate employee benefit processing and maintenance. Must be able to initiate and take projects through to completion independently, although not afraid to ask for assistance, if needed.
