General Statement of Duties


The incumbent provides consultative and liaison services to ensure employees are properly licensed in accordance with regulations adopted by the Virginia Board of Education. Engaged in complex licensure program support involving the interpretation and implementation of state regulations modified by the No Child Left Behind Act. Contact at all organizational levels within HCPS, State Department of Education and institutions of higher learning.
This is a 260-days, 8 hours per day position and reports to the Human Resources Specialist - Licensure. Minimum star ting annual salary is $48,508.62 or based on internal HCPS promotion policy for current HCPS employees if applicable. ( Note for the 2022/2023 school year: The salary for this position will be prorated based on the official start date.)


Essential Duties


· Supports the maintenance of a comprehensive database of all provisionally licensed teachers, which includes assessment criteria, state application statistics, professional study requirements, teaching experience and renewal requirements.

· Serves as the alternate liaison between Henrico County Public Schools and the Virginia Department of Education for issues related to teacher licensure.
· Supports the Licensure Specialist in identifying teachers that are not in licensure compliance and help develop plans to facilitate proper endorsements for those teachers.
· Evaluates transcripts and advises HR specialists regarding the potential employment of teacher candidates.
· Serves as an information resource for the Praxis Subject Assessments, Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment and School Leaders Licensure Assessment.
· Processes and provides information regarding university certification and add-on endorsement programs.
· Primary facilitator of the acceptance, placement, and recruitment of student teachers.
· Responds to daily communication with staff and public, in order to assist the Licensure Specialist in evaluating and advising on issues or requirements as they pertain to licensure or re-licensure.
· Coordinates the licensure component of Henrico County Job Fairs and other recruitment events.
· Establishes, reviews and updates licensure information on the HCPS HR webpage.
· Monitors and stays current with changing licensure requirements for all instructional personnel.
· Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


The ability to read, interpret, and apply licensure regulations is required. Knowledge of Virginia Department of Education licensure regulations is preferred. Ability to secure, analyze and produce data for organizational and reporting purposes is important. Excellent interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and deductive reasoning skills are required along with strong technological and computer skills. The ability to prioritize and multi-task is essential. Advanced degree preferred.
