The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Human Resources Manager working in our Orlando, Florida office.

This position is responsible for the management of HR staff and reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.

The Human Resources Manager is also responsible for directing all of the people functions of the organization in accordance with the policies and practices of the company, regulations and administrative rulings of governmental organizations and other regulatory and advisory authorities. Key to the role will be the delivery of a range of HR programs to support the achievement of business’s key initiatives and objectives. This position is responsible for transforming core values into common practices at all levels of the organization. The successful candidate will set high standards of performance for themselves and others; be professional in both word and actions in any situation; seek new knowledge and experiences; have an analytical mindset that can utilize factual data to develop solutions; be self-aware and adjust accordingly to different environments.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide HR related support and advice to management and staff on a range of HR functions including labor relations, employee relations, performance and compensation planning, learning & development, organization development and effective leadership practices.
  • Assist in management of labor relations issues including Union responses and grievances.
  • Lead employee relations investigations and provide effective resolution of claims and possible risk factors.
  • Support operations and the contracts associated with each EVP/VP, Program Manager, and Supervisor.
  • Participate in benefit administration: working with brokers on various insurances as dictated by Company needs; General Liability, Workers Compensation, Benefit Plans, EPLI/D&O insurance, etc. Provide risk management assessments to mitigate the Company’s potential liabilities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the Sr HR Generalist and Generalist roles.
  • Provide continual training, and improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the staff being managed as well as providing individuals with professional growth.
  • Ensure legislative compliance and identify and implement company policies and practices are compliant with Federal and state laws.
  • Compliance filing requirements; EEO-1 Reporting, CMS Registration, Affirmative Action Plans, etc.
  • Develop appropriate policies and programs for effective management of the people resources of the corporation. Included in this area, but not limited to, are employee relations, sexual/harassment, employee complaints, and compensation.
  • Train/Guide management and employees in HR policies and company processes including reasonable suspicion, reasonable accommodations, ADA reviews, etc.
  • Administration of the Company’s HRIS System i.e., backend user
  • Lead the incumbent capture process for new contracts.
  • Complete delegated work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related area. In lieu of degree, 15 years of experience in the HR field.
  • In addition, professional HR certification is highly preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 8-10 years of experience in the HR field, with demonstrated leadership experience in increasing levels of responsibility, including management of personnel and processes.
  • Background in labor relations, employee relations, employment law and/or other government compliance regulations is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR related policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of OFCCP, SCA, EEO, Title VII, DOL, FLSA, E-Verify, ADA, FMLA, FAR, etc.
  • Sound working knowledge of HR requirements within the DoD environment; understanding of DoD contract language.
  • Demonstrated ability in aligning HR strategy and programs to business and client requirements.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of levels within an organization.
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
  • Strong influence and negotiation skills across all levels of management.
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law; creative, proactive and positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Union experience preferred .
  • Position may require travel
