JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Housekeeper

DEPARTMENT: Environmental Services

MAIN FUNCTION: To provide a clean, safe and sanitary environment for the residents, visitors and staff by performing the day-to-day activities of the housekeeping department.

REPORTS TO: Housekeeping & Laundry Supervisor and Manager

SUPERVISES: N/A

A review of this job description has included the marginal functions of this position. However, will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by their supervisor.

DUTIES AND

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.

To clean floors including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping and disinfecting.

To clean carpets including vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing and disinfecting.

To remove dirt, dust and grease from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.

To assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a safe and clean manner.

To assure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing housekeeping procedures.

To report all hazardous conditions or equipment to the supervisor.

Is aware of Presbyterian Homes Corporate Compliance policies including those having to do with confidentiality and security of information, and concern for the well being of residents and patients. Demonstrates behaviors and completes work in a manner consistent with these policies

EXPERIENCE: One year of experience in housekeeping preferred.

Basic cleaning skills. Willingness to learn. Must be able to communicate in English

CONTACTS: Contact with residents, staff and visitors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Climbing, stretching, pulling, lifting (50lbs.) and bending.

Pushing housekeeping carts, vacuums, and other equipment.

Hazards: Exposure to potentially hazardous and toxic chemicals.

Exposure to potentially hazardous waste, e.g. blood, body waste and fluids.

Exposure to unpleasant body waste odors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.50 per hour
