  • Experience: Minimum three years’ experience within the Health Information Management Department as a supervisor or manager.
  • Education: High school diploma/GED. Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college preferred.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong organizational and computer skills required; must type 60+ WPM with accuracy. Outstanding customer service skills, excellent written and verbal communications, and ability to multi-task required. Knowledge of the federal and state regulations relating to medical records. Extensive knowledge of the HIPAA regulations. Required to have the ability to apply logical thinking to practical problems. Be able to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables and respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Licenses/Registrations/Certifications: RHIA/RHIT required. AAPC – CIC/COC, or AHIMA – CCA/CCS credentials are a plus. Minimum three years’ supervisory/managing experience required.

Serves as the Manager for the HIM Department as it relates to the day to day operations of the department. Under the direction of the HIM Director, manages all facets of the department. This individual must possess exceptional human relation skills with regard to supervision of staff, patient interface, and direct contact. This individual will assist the HIM Director in developing and maintaining policies and procedures. This individual insures an excellent image of Astria Health and must be able to effectively communicate and be able to exercise good judgment.


WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is primarily performed in an office setting and is considered sedentary work. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. Requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Requires repetitive typing and key entry work, and computer work. Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires good manual and finger dexterity to operate computers, phones, and handle documents. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
