Our family owned lumber mill in Bristol is looking for an experienced heavy equipment mechanic to be our lead mechanic/shop foreman with experience in repairing heavy equipment, large forklifts, Class 8 trucks, as well as light wheel vehicles plus other fleet equipment. Our fleet manager is having his job redefined to include assisting with overall daily operations, so we are looking for someone to take the lead in maintaining our rolling stock.

A successful candidate will be responsible for supervising other technicians, be very well organized, and also be able to perform well independently. Good people skills are important, as this position has a strong focus on safety and is very team oriented throughout the entire organization.

Experience with diagnostic troubleshooting, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air systems, with the ability to diagnose the majority of the problems that come in the door. Major work, such as engine rebuilds and transmission repairs, are typically sent out for repairs. Our goal is for the trucks and equipment to always be in good condition, so the fleet can operate safely and productively.

Computer Maintenance Software experience is a plus. It is desirable that the applicant process a CDL, Vt State Inspection Certification and Air Brake Certification.

You must be physically fit and able to work standing on your feet for extended periods of time. You must be able to both lift and push/pull 50 pounds regularly throughout the day. While part of every day is dedicated to working on the computer to enter data into our maintenance program, ordering parts and looking for information on the internet, more than half of every day will be spent in hands-on work.
