Job Title: Graphic Designer

General Description:

The graphic designer will create and conceptualize graphics, illustrations, typography, layouts, logos, packaging, animations, collateral and other branding assets for educational and training purposes.

Supervision Received: Design and Development Manager

Supervision Essential Job Functions:

  • * Each employee is required to support the mission of the Chickasaw Nation to enhance the overall quality of life of the Chickasaw people
  • * Prepare visual presentations by designing art and copy layouts
  • * Prepare work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials
  • * Maintain brand standards in print and digital design assets
  • * Plan concepts by studying information and materials
  • * Illustrate concepts by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts
  • * Design collateral materials, including direct mail, ads, magazines, postcards, newsletters, flyers, invitations, and other collateral as needed
  • * Follow creative direction and style for current and new projects
  • * Able to collaborate effectively with an experienced creative team
  • * Participate in creative team discussion and meetings
  • * Ability to present clear ideas and designs
  • * Ability to translate and interpret an idea visually
  • * Able to communicate project status with manager, production coordinator and staff editor
  • * Manage tasks through digital project management tools
  • * Obtain approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval
  • * Prepare press ready files to send to printer
  • * Collaborate with team members in brainstorming for marketing and advertising strategies
  • * Perform all other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required - * Strong conceptual design skills and the ability to execute designs efficiently and at a high level of quality Required - * Strong understanding (and opinions) of effective design and advertising solutions Required - * Good analytical abilities, visual and aesthetic sense Required - * Ability to adhere to brand guidelines Required - * Requires both technical as well as creative abilities Required - * Able to draft mock-ups of design assets for client approval Required - * Ability to execute and present creative design ideas Required - * Manage strict timelines and deadlines Required - * Contribute creative ideas for all stages of design and branding Required - * Excellent written and oral communication skills Required - * Writing and editing skills Required - * Ability to work well under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment Required - * Organized and detail-oriented Required - * Ability to handle multiple tasks at once from different sources of accountability Required - * Ability to handle multiple projects at once

Education:

Bachelors Required - * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in graphic design, art or related field required, High School Diploma / GED required

Education Note:

Training And Experience:

Required Experience (3 -5 years) - * Three years of experience in graphic design required Required Experience (0 - 6 months) - * Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the industry Preferred Training (0 - 6 months) - * Preferred experience in both print and digital production Preferred Training (0 - 6 months) - * Proficient illustration and animation skills a plus Required Training (0 - 6 months) - * Proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite required

Licenses, Certifications, Other:

Required - * Must be able to pass background check and receive a gaming license from the Chickasaw Nation Office of the Gaming Commission as required to work in gaming operations Required - * Must possess a valid driver’s license Required - * Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result

Work Environment:

Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a professional office setting, but travel times may include visiting operational areas. In these areas, you may be exposed to environmental factors including, but not limited to, secondhand smoke and excessive noise. While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
