Job Summary:
The Grant Specialist’s role will be to continually search, identify, facilitate, and implement grant or government funding and incentive opportunities. This position is responsible for grants development, evaluation, and compliance, including research, pre-award grant writing, coordination of grant applications, and adherence to grant guidelines. This individual will assist with providing technical assistance, grant writing, and administration / execution post grant award.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Grant Application and Funding Opportunity Phases
· Performs complex planning, research, consultative, technical and program administration.
· Performs routine searches for funding opportunities, understands and tracks the current and evolving research.
· Investigates local, state, federal, private, and corporate sources of funding.
· Takes the lead in searching and communicating funding opportunities
· Performs internal reviews of institutional needs and assesses the feasibility of obtaining external funding for project and program proposals.
· Develops and maintains an internal grant application process.
· Coordinates, develops, and processes grant applications from conceptual to submission stage.
Post Grant Execution and Adherence
· Develops and maintains a grant management system for funded grants that includes report due dates, budget adherence, impact of grants, and any other grant requirements.
· Monitor financial administration of grants to ensure that proper documentation is submitted for expenditures and that requests for funds are made within time limitations specified.
· Ensure grant reimbursements are executed timely.
· Collect and review financial or other data, summarize in written and oral communications.
· Follow contract monitoring procedures to ensure documents are up to date and that contractual obligations are in compliance with grant requirements.
Other Hydrogen Development Opportunities
· Explore incentives available to the hydrogen industry and liaise with relevant stakeholders to bring new opportunities to management.
· Perform complex technical analysis and prepare reports and presentation materials.
· Research scientific, legislative and policy topics and synthesize information for management review.
· Analyze information and data leading to the preparation of written documents summarizing findings and recommendations.
· Work collaboratively with stakeholders from industry, environmental and community groups, other government agencies as well as internal colleagues.
· Prepare meeting materials and give oral presentations.
· Liaise with project managers to ensure that project reporting is executed timely and accurately.
· Maintain contract records used to ensure compliance with reporting and regulatory requirements.
· Perform various other staff work unique to the unit to which assigned
Desirable qualifications:
· Experience working with government agencies including, but not limited to, air districts, California Energy Commission, California Air Resources Board, and EPA.
· Training and experience that demonstrates proficient knowledge of zero emission vehicle technologies, specifically fuel cells and hydrogen.
· Ability to research and review complex technical issues and documents and make recommendations.
· Strong oral presentation and written communication skills, including the ability to make presentations.
· Skill with related computer applications and tools for data analysis, research, mapping and report preparation.
· Experience collaborating with others to achieve shared goals.
· Demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects and shifting and competing priorities while meeting deadlines and maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
· Project management experience or demonstrated organizational ability
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in in relevant field, e.g., engineering, environmental engineering, business administration, or related field.
· Experience in grant applications and administration.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
