We are currently seeking a Senior GIS Specialist to join our team. This position has excellent growth potential and will provide the successful individual the opportunity to be part of the strategic direction of the business.
The principal responsibilities of the Senior GIS Specialist consist of, but are not limited to:
  • Under general supervision, perform mapping, spatial data creation, maintenance and analysis tasks using ArcGIS software.
  • Provide assistance to the GIS Lead / Pipeline Engineer, as requested, in the areas of schedules, estimates, progress reports, meetings, etc.
  • If serving in a Lead or Area Lead position, perform all or some of the following:
organize/plan jobs, write/review specifications, prepare/maintain schedules, develop/monitor estimates and manpower forecasts, assign work, work with project/client/field, material procurement, permit, and subcontract activities.
  • Work with other disciplines as required for the performance of pipeline designs, data integration and development of GIS deliverables.
  • Actively participate in, and maximize the use of, Fluor’s Pipeline Knowledge Community and other available resources.
  • Travel, as required, to ensure the successful execution of project and/or department goals.
  • Attend external technical seminars and self-enroll in training courses for in-house management.
  • Perform self-check of completed work, develop self confidence, and provide guidance to less experienced specialists.
  • Exhibit understanding of coordinate systems and transformations, engineering survey techniques, data modeling, web applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and five (5) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to nine (9) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Other Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have good organizational skills and well-developed problem-solving skills. You must also have a proven ability to generate and foster client relationships while working in a fast paced and competitive business environment.
In addition you:
Candidate’s previous pipeline project experience is preferred along with field pipeline construction.
  • Have knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software platform, development concepts
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and integration with GIS
  • Value safety in both personal conduct and application in design
  • Are detail oriented with first-class leadership and motivational skills
  • Are committed to working in a team environment, with established team building abilities
  • Have excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accredited degree or global equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management, or related technical discipline
  • May require Certified Network Engineer (CNE or CNE/NT) or Certified Network Administrator (CNA) credentials or other applicable certifications
  • Five (5) years related experience in technical services for hardware/software engineering and/or production support of Information Technology (IT) services
  • Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
  • Demonstrated strong technical and non-technical communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills
