This role will work hybrid between working in KQED's newly renovated headquarters and working remotely. KQED requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Salary Range: $97,000-$119,000 annually
Position Summary:
This position will manage, monitor and optimize paid digital brand campaigns to acquire new audiences across a host of KQED platforms, including KQED.org, mobile apps, podcasts and video properties, among others. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams such as Product, Content, Creative, Audience Development and Audience Intelligence teams to deliver practical insights around driving campaign return on investment, channel performance, SEO/SEM and audience acquisition. This role will also communicate business direction to third party creative and buying agencies based on KQED’s marketing goals, systems/operations architecture and tracking needs.
The Performance Marketing Manager will also help identify new, innovative ways to drive acquisition through the different channels via test and learns. The position demands strong analytical, planning and multi-tasking skills to achieve objectives, as well as a keen marketing sense to maximize resonance with target audiences.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with external agencies and internal teams, to drive from planning to execution, full-cycle paid digital ad campaigns to meet key performance metrics such as website audience growth and acquisition, mobile app awareness and increased downloads.
  • Allocate campaign budgets, analyze and recommend modifications to ad spends, creative/messaging strategies and media buying optimizations to internal stakeholders and third party agencies.
  • Collaborate with MarCom, Product, Creative and Content teams in an effort to optimize brand and direct response campaigns, landing pages and programs based on real-time performance and ROI.
  • Liaise with Product and Analytics teams to help ensure the acquisition experience on the site and products is seamless, and to capture clean audience data that will inform optimization and performance.
  • Actively participates and supports the planning and management of SEM and SEO related to the website.
  • Work with Product and Audience Intelligence teams to effectively track all advertising metrics, discover viable user journeys to develop richer audience insights and targeting and segmentation optimization strategies.
  • Conducts research and analyses in order to deliver reporting to content teams and senior management on performance of marketing campaigns and programs as well as conducting forecasting and estimations on the success of those campaigns.
  • Determine areas of opportunity by testing new channels, ad messaging technologies such as voice search, AR, VR and up and coming ad tech) and present data-driven recommendations that improve current marketing and business practices in order to drive audience acquisition, engagement and retention
  • Contribute to other Audience Division projects and initiatives as needed

Knowledge/Experience Required:

  • Five or more years of experience in managing large digital advertising campaigns and initiatives across a host of platforms
  • Digital or full-service advertising agency experience or deep experience managing relationships with external creative/media agencies
  • Strong executional knowledge across a wide variety of marketing tactics/channels (e.g. Email, Display, Paid Search, Web Pages, Direct Mail, Paid Social, etc.)
  • Experience working in a return on ad investment performance marketing framework.
  • Strong communicator both in verbal and written form with highly collaborative know-how for smooth execution of cross-functional duties.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex information and data into clear and easily understandable reports.
  • Excellent analytical skills (Google Analytics, Omniture, SEO, SEM and SQL a plus) with incrementality testing experience
  • Strong familiarity with AdTech and measurement approaches to performance marketing including website analytics, latest tagging and cookie updates, pixel tracking and mobile app measurement tools.
  • Experience running digital campaigns on programmatic platforms like The Trade Desk, Google Ads (Display, Search Network and YouTube), Megaphone/Spotify, large DSPs etc.
  • Strategic thinking and iterative skills for large, long-term projects and attention to detail in execution of promotional campaigns
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Experience in UX design and execution is not required but preferred
