About the Position:

• Serve as the lead worker in the absence of the Forensic Officer III. Responsible for maintaining a secure and safe environment of a state mental health facility for consumers, staff, and visitors. The population for the facility consists of forensic consumers with pending criminal charges who are to be evaluated to determine if they are competent to stand trial, incompetent, or not guilty by reason of insanity.

• $0.50/hr shift differentials when working evening or nights and $0.75/hr for weekends and holidays
• Primary Working Hours are: 11:00pm-7:00pm

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Two years of experience in security work and completion of two mental health-based security courses within the first six months of employment

Special Requirements:

• Applicant must be able to pass an OSBI background check.
• Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
• Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of occasionally lifting/carrying 60 pounds and able to push and pull a maximum force of 30 pounds.

About us: The Oklahoma Forensic Center in Northeast Oklahoma (Vinita) is the largest inpatient behavioral health facility in the ODMHSAS system. We employ around 260 individuals and house approximately 200 consumers whom have been found incompetent or adjudication or adjudicated as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity.
