Scope of Work:

The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of Flight Equipment Technician duties for support of the CMMARS AV8B MCAS Cherry Point project site.

Responsibilities:

Work involves, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Performs periodic and scheduled tests, inspections, and maintenance on aircrew flight equipment including, but not limited to, parachutes, survival kits, helmets, oxygen masks, and pressure suits.
  • Ensures proper size and fitment of aircrew ensemble.
  • Works directly with aircrew to troubleshoot and resolve problems with flight equipment.
  • Certifies aircrew flight equipment as safe for flight.
  • Properly records all inspection and maintenance actions.
  • Utilizes basic hand tools, technical data, blueprints, and vendor instructions to perform tasks.
  • Occasionally works irregular shifts to support flying operations.
  • This occupation includes functions involved in disassembling, repairing, troubleshooting, examining, modifying, maintaining, installing, and determining serviceability of aircraft survival and flight equipment such as parachutes, life rafts, protective devices, oxygen masks, and anti-G-suits.
  • Duties include operational and circuit checks of emergency signaling and communication devices such as survival radios and beacons.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Position requires knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair, maintenance procedures, pyrotechnic/explosive devices, and aircraft egress systems. Additionally, position requires familiarity with aircraft assigned to unit, detailed knowledge of the operation and characteristics of aircraft survival and flight equipment, and the ability to demonstrate and explain proper usage and operation of the equipment.
  • Five (5) Years’ Experience in Aircrew Flight Equipment. Three (3) Years’ Experience in Flight line Operations.
  • Knowledge of office automation software (MS Windows, MS Office, including PowerPoint, Word, Access, and Excel) required.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check. Must have and maintain a valid state driver’s license. Must be able to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check. Must have a safe driving record, as defined by Company policy, to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme cold / heat, etc.). Must be able to perform on-call duties when scheduled and report to work within one hour of notification. Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements of the customer, to include weekends and holidays.
  • Duties will require frequent periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, crouching, crawling, reaching, and balancing. Physically fit to bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Must possess the ability to work in a team or alone and be able to change jobs on short notice.
