Fireworks Designer Needed Now (Kingsbury/Laporte, IN) Job at PYROTECNICO
Pyrotecnico is hiring NOW for a Fireworks Designer for a our Midwest Region
Position Summary/Objective: A Fireworks Designer is part of the Fireworks Design team and is responsible for creating firework displays and all files used to execute those displays. This is done using a collection scripting and other design software. A Fireworks Designer would also be responsible for understanding and being able to operate firing and sync systems used to display the actual fireworks. The person in this role would also be transporting shows/product to work sites (so CDL B with Hazmat will be required within 90 days) and be willing to be a show tech as well.

The Fireworks Designer position is a full time salaried exempt position
•
The annual salary for this position will be between 52K and 62K depending on experience
•
Benefits: Medical, Dental and Vision insurance are offered the 1st of the month following full time start date
•
Ancillary benefits are offered a 90 days, including but not limited to paid vacations, paid holidays and participation in the Company 401K plan
•
Paid sick time is offered upon hire and allocated based on the quarter in which the start date falls
Experience or Skill Sets and essential duties of the Fireworks Designer
•
Fireworks display experience is preferred: This individual will be trained with knowledge specific to this position, but should have a basic knowledge of how to set up a fireworks show. (or have worked as a helper or a lead on fireworks shows)
•
Problem Solving ability required - When designing a display, parameters are given that must be met. Our goal is to put out the best display possible within the parameters given.
•
Computer Skills required - We use a combination of industry specific software as well as programs such as google, excel and basic audio editing software.
•
Electronics Skills preferred - A Fireworks Designer will be responsible for learning how each of our firing systems and sync systems work and will use this knowledge while designing displays and creating the files for each show. These are computer based electronics with industry specific interfaces.

Attention to detail is required - Shows can be very complex, and a Fireworks Designer is responsible for ensuring the paperwork is as clear and error free as possible. There are a lot of small details and the tiniest detail could affect the execution of that show.

Ability to take direction from others is required.
•
Ability to manage and follow strict schedules/deadlines is required.
•
Ability to work collaboratively with others to complete tasks accurately and on time.
•
Ability to work a flexible schedule at certain times of the year.
•
Have or be willing to obtain a CDL B within 90 days of starting employment.
Preferred but not required skill sets for the Fireworks Designer
This job operates in an office, warehouse facility and show site environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones, office phones and other standard office equipment. This role involves ongoing communication with internal employees and external contacts--via phone, email and any other professional means of communication necessary to complete the permitting process. This role could also involve being on the show site for last minute changes as necessary. This role also requires individuals to frequent the fireworks facilities to test equipment, and these facilities can be hot or cold depending on the season.
Physical Demands of the Fireworks Designer
The person in this role must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time and must move about occasionally inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery and to have routine contact with individuals in the office IF this position is not located remotely. The person in this role must frequently climb stairs, attend meetings in person or via virtual/computer as needed to complete the essential job duties. This person may be required to frequent our storage facilities and venues on and off site. This person in this position will lift 25lbs frequently and 50lbs occasionally.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work for the Fireworks Designer
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are typically an 8 hour day- in addition to a 1 hour unpaid lunch. This person in this role will typically work an 8am to 5pm schedule, except during high volume sales periods when evening and weekend work may be required. This position at some times during the year will require evening and weekends, and the Fireworks Designer may also receive calls after hours.
Travel
This position requires infrequent travel, less than 25%. Travel may be mixed -- local and outside the local area and may require overnight stay.
Education and Experience
High School Degree or equivalent is required
