Financial Aid Specialist (part-time) Job at Roanoke-Chowan Community College
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business or other closely related field and one (1) year of professional experience in financial aid.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business or other closely related field and one (1) or more years of professional experience working in financial aid.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interview and inform students applying for financial aid including helping students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), going through the verification process, and entering applications and corrections as needed. Keep students and parents informed of changes in financial aid rules and regulations as well as provide financial literacy and promote fiscal responsibility. Maintain award records. Awarding and submitting request for Pell and FSEOG each semester including determining eligibility, checking enrollment, checking for late starting classes. Maintain Scholarship records including verifying eligible and requesting checks from the business office. Complete third-party authorizations including recording on FA file and requesting payment from the business office. Attend meetings, conventions, training sessions and other group functions on and away from the campus as a representative of R-CCC. Assist with the veteran student population. Maintain and update scholarship postings on website. Maintain level of confidentiality regarding documents received and other matters involving students and financial aid in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Work selected nights during the month. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid and Director of TRIO Student Support Services.

SALARY:
Salary commensurate with education and work experience.

This is a grant-funded position and funded through August 2025. Candidates must successfully complete a criminal background investigation. Only those who are interviewed will be notified of the status of the position.
