Field Service Technician - Electrical, or Electro-Mechanical
Nidec Press and Automation is currently seeking a Field Service Engineer to support a new integrated press and feed system for a rapidly expanding new customer. The successful candidate will have strong electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting, service, and maintenance skills as well as being within a 3-4 hour drive from Charlotte, North Carolina. This is an opportunity to serve on the launch team of a new customer and product platform in the high speed, precision stamping market.
If you have mechanical experience and a high mechanical aptitude, or experience and a good working knowledge of electronics, PLCs, etc., then we are interested in talking to you.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing technical support electrically and mechanically for high speed Kyori VX-50 press with SYS PS-100
- Instructing and assisting personnel in setting up equipment in customer's facility.
- Troubleshooting and repairing equipment on-site.
- Providing phone or virtual support to customers when required.
- Determine part needs and initiate part order process.
- Assist Service engineering in control upgrades design and execution.
- Provide technical and maintenance support to other NP&A customers with their metal forming equipment.
- Commission new and remanufactured metal forming equipment in customers' plants.
- Audit customers' metal forming equipment and report all repair requirements found.
- Provide written and oral reports in English in an accurate and professional manner.
- Promote service parts and preventative maintenance contracts.
- Work flexible hours to support customer service needs including any portion of 24-hour day, 7 days a week.
- Local, domestic and international travel. 90% Travel
- Represent NP&A effectively in business and social situations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical troubleshooting and installation techniques.
- Capable of performing electrical and mechanical press repair or mechanical and electrical knowledge of machinery found in a manufacturing environment.
- Specific experience with PLC's, HMI's and servo controls in a manufacturing or factory automation setting.
- Beckhoff or similar control platform programing and experience (training can replace).
- Familiarity with other programming languages would be a plus (C#, VB.net, C++, C, or WPF).
- 5 years technical manufacturing experience.
- Able to work effectively with minimum supervision.
- Associates in electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics or equivalent experience and training.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc).
