Job Description:
OBJECTIVE:
Plan and execute the removal, modification, rework, and installation of package controls and package systems to upgrade industrial gas turbine packages to customer specifications and schedule requirements. Applies knowledge in related turbo-machinery fields, conforms to all EHSS, quality, environmental, electrical, and Solar standards during performance of duties.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Applies technical, mechanical, electrical, and hydro-mechanical skills required to perform all aspects of controls and package system upgrades on supported product lines. Works from limited documented instructions including engineering drawings and schematics. Operates, inspects, and maintains all equipment required to complete a safe package systems upgrade. Applies advanced skills in conduit and cable tray installation, tube bending and installation, and sub assembly techniques required to complete package systems upgrades. Actively promote continuous improvement activities associated with PSU products and execution processes. Domestic and international travel required for assignments (>75%).
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Work permit program understanding and compliance. Participate in general safety meetings and toolbox (Tailgate) safety briefings including Work Hazard Assessment and Task Risk Assessment reviews. Submit safety suggestions/observations/incidents as appropriate. Plan, execute, and/or assist in the removal of the obsolete control console, inter-connect wiring, package system components, and conduit/cable tray & tubing that will be deleted, replaced, or upgraded per the project ACS. Install and/or assist in the placement of the new control console. Rewire package junction box(s), new components, and package inter-connect wiring as specified in the project ACS. Assist commissioning FSR in the completion of cold loop checks prior to demobilizing. Inventory and maintain parts/tool modules to support PSU Field installations. Support technical & administrative development of less experienced Field Install Reps. Assist with inventory/restock of PSU field tooling assets (FIRMS/Workshops) as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess leadership skills necessary to work in a team-oriented fast-paced work environment (factory and field). Requires advanced training and experience in package system upgrades/refurbishment, overhaul, or specialized training in a particular area, such as electronics/hydraulics or equivalent experience. Experience w/ turbo-machinery products including basic understanding of customer balance of plant equipment and operation. Strong problem solving, computer, and communication skills required.
Minimum Qualifications:
The training provided will be a combination of classroom and online training, significant hands-on training, structured on the job training in the field, and mentored controls system training at various Solar locations including:
Solar (as available)

A commitment of 3 years as a Field Installation Representative is required. This position requires significant travel and interface in customer facilities. Frequent communication with the customer and technical personnel is required while diagnosing turbine package and balance of plant related issues. In addition, a commitment to working safely and with little supervision in the field environment while maintaining a high degree of responsibility and professionalism is needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Will have received minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Related Engineering degree by summer 2023.
  • Minimum overall GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude experience.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Must be willing and able to travel, relocate, and work overtime (international and domestic travel 75% of the time). Travel is dependent upon the following:
  • Clean Driving Record (this includes no moving violations within the last 12 months, no "2 point" violations within the last 3 years, and no DUI's within the last 7 years.
  • Successfully complete physical exam and obtain offshore certification (OGUK or equivalent) by Solar-approved physician.
  • Obtain BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) certification.
  • Possess / be able to obtain a valid US Passport and legal TWIC (Transportation Worker's Identification Credential).
  • Be able to pass initial and random drug and alcohol testing required for DOT and DISA compliance.
  • Be able to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 by hire date.

  • Ability to handle stress and work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Communicate in a professional manner.
  • Previous internship or related work experience with customer facing activities strongly preferred.
