PURPOSE OF POSITION
Accountable for the supervision and coordination of the facility departments’ daily operations and repair of the building and facilities systems. Assists with duties on the gaming floor related to custodial and maintenance with high-level guest service and employee relations according to established policies, procedures, and applicable Federal, State, and Tribal laws and regulations.

Other Important Contacts: General Manager, CFO, Department Managers, TGA, Other Employees & Guests


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for supervising the Maintenance and Custodial staff to ensure quality performance and that all work is done with care and no damage occurs.
  • Receives maintenance requests, and ensures all work order requests related to mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and other assigned duties are completed properly and timely to meet safety and service standards.
  • Inspects the facility on a regular basis for deficiencies, and follows through to see that those deficiencies are remedied.
  • Schedules and follows up on all preventative maintenance issues, whether with outside vendors or with inside staff.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable codes, inspection, and reporting of deficiencies throughout the facilities and systems.
  • Responds to all emergencies per established procedures, provide expertise, directs team members and resources in the event of an emergency during assigned shift.
  • May assist in staffing, scheduling, evaluating, developing, and monitoring of subordinate personnel.
  • May assist in interviewing applicants for subordinate positions, assign work, grant overtime and early outs, discipline and train employees, and recommend wage increases and promotions with department manager.
  • Accurately documents, reports, and appropriately distributes department and personnel information, activities, and status and assists in the maintenance, security, and confidentiality of such information; including but not limited to time sheets, personnel action forms, overage/shortage reports, and records of conversations.
  • Completes timely performance evaluations for subordinates.
  • Must comply with and enforce compliance with the company’s recycling program standards.
  • Prepares work area to include movement of furniture/obstructions.
  • Lifts and moves tools and parts.
  • Drives company vehicles as directed to run errands, pick up/deliver equipment, parts and supplies, etc.
  • May assist in maintaining and optimizing department material and equipment inventories ensuring the department is equipped properly for daily activities and special events.
  • Promotes continuous improvement in the performance of the department and its employees.
  • Works within the established philosophies and guidelines of the Nooksack Northwood Casino and meet the expectations of senior management.
  • Works in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Tribal laws and regulations and with company and department policies and procedures while practicing positive customer and employee relations.
  • Ensures a professional and neat appearance of the department, and represent the company in a positive manner.
  • Perform duties of subordinate personnel as required.
  • Work in conjunction with the Manager to organize and implement all special events.
  • Ensures the control and protection of all company assets.
  • Because of the Casino’s commitment to our guests and customer service, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nooksack Tribal Gaming Agency license and Washington State Gaming License.
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum two years of demonstrated successful supervisory/management experience.
  • Must possess computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must possess good math skills.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess good customer service and leadership skills.
  • Skills and knowledge to include: Air conditioning/heating, electrical, kitchen, plumbing, machine repair, fireboard, carpentry, painting, plastering, irrigation, and general maintenance.
  • Must have ability to operate specialized equipment, testing equipment, controls on the equipment.
  • Must possess knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Must possess knowledge of boiler operation, generator, chiller operation.
  • Must be able to read and evaluate blueprints.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to change quickly and efficiently.
  • Must be able to acquire a WOSSA certification.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.


PREFERRED
  • Previous casino experience.
  • Trade school training preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrician, plumber, HVAC mechanic, ground support, maintenance and/or machinist would be preferred.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of hours of operation for the casino and all food and beverage outlets.
  • Knowledge of casino operations, relevant policies and procedures, and internal controls.
  • Knowledge of Title 31 reporting requirements.
  • Ability to remain calm and perform duties under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to use appropriate demeanor, i.e., respect, patience, attentiveness, etc., when dealing with guests and employees.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated positive customer service skills.
  • Ability to work any shifts including days, swing, grave, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to multi task.
  • Conflict Management skills.


WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work in a noisy, crowed and often smoke-filled environment.
  • Will be monitored by Surveillance cameras.
  • Will work various shifts and days.
  • May interact with persons who are angered, intoxicated, or distressed.


PHYICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. on a continuous basis.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, stoop and squat on a continuous basis.
