Kiawah River is seeking a Dining and Facility Manager to oversee the operations and service offerings of the Spring House, Kiawah River’s premier amenity. This 9,000-sq-ft waterfront facility features two pools, an outdoor spa, casual dining outlet, full commercial kitchen, event spaces, conference room, and a state-of-the-art fitness facility with locker rooms and saunas—all overlooking the scenic Kiawah River. Since its opening in 2021, the Spring House has welcomed many homeowners, guests, and prospects, and has hosted a number of family gatherings, corporate meetings and retreats, and special events like rehearsal dinners and celebrations. The Dining and Facility Manager oversees the facility’s daily operations and management of the front- and back-of-house team members responsible for executing all facility functions as they relate to food and beverage, events, fitness, and pool. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest level of guest service and experience of a multi-faceted operation that serves the community’s rapidly growing resident population, their guests, renters, and future hotel guests. The ideal candidate is someone who possesses the traits and skills to inspire a positive team-working environment, efficient execution, and an adaptable strategy to coincide with a constantly evolving community.

Kiawah River is a waterfront community, located on Johns Island, that embraces the Lowcountry sea islands life and is centered on outdoor pursuits with 20 miles of shoreline and 2,000 acres of picturesque land, including multiple working farms, a goat dairy and a Community Support Agriculture (CSA) program. The community vision combines residential, retail and hospitality offerings along with 1,000+ homesites, hotel, retail, event hall, and other amenities. The Spring House is the first amenity completed and functions as the cornerstone of the community. We are located right off of Betsy Kerrison Parkway, near the River Road intersection and 2.5 miles before you reach the Kiawah-Seabrook roundabout.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the operations and daily functions of all facility amenities and services—food and beverage, fitness, pool, and events.
  • Ensure the service practices and program offerings meet quality standards and contribute to a greater overall community experience.
  • Maintain annual budget for facility operations and provide insight on budgetary needs and financial goals. Manage inventory tracking and accounting procedures necessary to maintain a well-organized and balanced budget (e.g. invoicing, check requests, etc.)
  • Manage staff recruitment, onboarding, training, and continued coaching of team members. Set example for staff on delivering exceptional service and step in as needed at peak times or when short staffed in various roles.
  • Provide support and insight on ongoing development, growth, and daily operations. Develop interesting ways of promoting facility functions.
  • Oversee the safety and maintenance needs of the fitness and pool equipment, conference space and event spaces, safety training, and necessary certifications for facility and staffing.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service personnel on maintenance and upkeep of facility and equipment needs.
  • Collaborate on coordination of community events and private event bookings at the Spring House.
  • Work with culinary team on menu development and plating standards for regular dining service and special events.
  • Assist with reporting, documentation, and system processes involved with resident and guest engagement.
  • Act as liaison to residents, guests, and prospects helping to create a warm, welcoming first impression and positive experience for residents and guests.
  • Attend and participate in weekly leadership meetings.
  • Implement and support all community initiatives and programs as requested by management.
  • Maintain a positive can-do attitude for the team and a willingness to step in to assist at peak times or when short-staffed.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Multiple years of experience in hospitality, food & beverage, facility operations, or similar fields in a leadership capacity
  • College degree preferred but not required
  • Excellent customer service skills and a demonstrated experience in resolving customer issues and complaints while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Effective time management, organization, and prioritization skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and recommend/implement effective solutions.
  • Experience in managing an operations budget and ability to create reports and present information that demonstrates progress in meeting financial goals and successful operation
  • Proven leadership skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills with ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word. POS experience preferred.
  • Confident in computer skills and ability/willingness to learn new programs and technology
  • Event management experience in coordinating vendors and executing an event from start to finish.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Job entails varying physical tasks in the setup and breakdown involved in daily operations, events, etc. Candidates should be comfortable with:
  • Ability to lift at 25 – 50 pounds, with assistance when necessary While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be required to walk or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, climb, balance, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl without hindrance
  • While performing this job, employee will be exposed to sunlight, heat, wet and/or humid conditions
  • Maintains a professional appearance appropriate to position and as per company policy
  • Ability to climb on step stool or ladder in order to complete elements of the job or facilitate maintenance issues
