This is highly skilled work consisting of maintaining county property, machinery and systems.
Work is performed under the direction of the Facilities Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for maintenance of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, which includes detection and correction of identified problems. Checks and repairs all malfunctioning lights; maintain temperature control at standard comfortable levels in all buildings; works with designated service contractors for various areas of property to affect repairs. Maintains preventative maintenance logs, records and equipment. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs of buildings systems to include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and general carpentry. Assist staff with room set-up for special events; maintains tools and equipment as needed. Inspects County buildings and recommends repairs and alterations. Assists on carpentry, masonry, painting, and renovation project in County buildings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The work performed consists of a wide variety of tasks involving several building trades including carpentry, masonry, mechanical, electrical, painting and roofing. The employee must be able to maintain County buildings spread over a wide area and must be prepared to respond to problems with short notice. The employee must have the ability to establish priorities and changes to workflows and/or schedules to meet objectives and accommodate circumstances. The work occasionally involves exposure to construction site hazards and heights. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or G.E.D. and two years of maintenance experience; or graduation from a maintenance technical program and two years of experience. Strong emphasis on electrical maintenance preferred. May be required to work weekends and evenings. Possession of a valid state of Florida Driver’s License with a favorable driving record.
