Basic Function

HF Sinclair in Sinclair, WY is seeking a Facilities Engineer to provided engineering technical, small project, and repair plan support to Operations and Maintenance as required on refinery process units with the objective of improving safety, environmental, reliability, and expense performance. Support others on the Facilities Engineering team during times of high work load to ensure that all required work is completed. Support turnaround execution with timely and accurate engineering of discovery work. Act as an interface between maintenance, operations and inspection functions.

Job Duties

  • Support Operations, Maintenance and Turnaround groups by providing technical assistance on questions related to the facilities engineer’s area of expertise (e.g. pipe, valves, bolting, heat exchangers, vessels, etc.).
  • Develop repair plans for deficient equipment/assets within the plant Procurement of fixed equipment in assigned units for both planned turnaround replacements and unplanned outages adhering to internal FEVR process.
  • Develops project scopes, budgets and AFE’s for approval and ensures projects meet budget as well as refinery and ASME standards Understand/use equipment standards and ASME codes Work with internal Design & Drafting group for development of piping packages Assist with construction activities, including resolving issues in the field.
  • Provides turnaround support including pre-turnaround engineering packages as well as support during unit shutdowns.
  • Maintains current and accurate project documentation.
  • Oversees the development of start-up manuals, operating and emergency response procedures, training programs as required.
  • Participate in project team environment Follow-through on commitments made to others.
  • Manage contractors for 3rd party assistance when needed.
  • Follow-through on commitments made to others.
  • Create and maintain a well-organized and professional-looking work area
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Education/Experience

ABET accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline is required. Experience in oil and gas production, refineries, petrochemicals, or related industry is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively with others, strong verbal communication skills, advanced level of reading and writing, ability to perform advanced mathematical calculations, and excellent organizational skills. Strong Microsoft Office experience. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, work at elevated heights using fall protection equipment, and be able to enter confined spaces requiring use of respiratory protection. Awareness of ASME and API piping and pressure vessel codes and standards, with an ability to apply this knowledge analytically.
