About Our Opportunity
The Harrah's Cherokee Center is seeking temporary event staff to work events as needed. An employee in this class performs specialized unskilled work to support Harrah's Cherokee Center events. This position greets patrons, takes their tickets, helps them find their seats, guards the doors during the events and sells and attaches wristbands on patrons for their alcohol purchases. Event Staff must exercise tact and courtesy as they may be in frequent contact with City officials, City employees and the general public. This work is performed under general supervision of the Event Coordinator or Event Administrator and is evaluated through observation, conferences, review of work performed and public approval. Your work hours will vary according to the event schedule, so you must be available to work nights and weekends

This position will NOT be eligible for benefits, paid leave time (vacation, sick, holiday) nor participation in the retirement system.

Initial review of applications will occur on 1/16/23. This position will remain open until filled 2/10/23 or until a sufficient number of applications are received.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

In this role, the Event Staff:
  • Greets Harrah's Cherokee Center patrons.
  • Takes tickets to events from patrons.
  • Leads patrons to available seating and facilities.
  • Maintains a cheerful demeanor toward patrons while on duty.
  • Helps parties of Harrah's Cherokee Center patrons find one another.
  • Responds to patrons' inquiries about Harrah's Cherokee Center facilities.
  • Guards the doors where events are located.
  • Check identification to wristband patrons to purchase alcohol.
  • Count money and give change correctly.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Performs other related work as required.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered

  • General knowledge of the layout of Harrah's Cherokee Center facilities.
  • Ability to stand for moderately long periods of time.
  • Ability to walk short distances.
  • Ability to speak clearly.
  • Ability to maintain a cheerful demeanor for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public.
  • Ability to maintain high standards for performance of work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
