The Director of Events Sales is responsible for overseeing the event sales team at Chiles Hospitality. This includes motivating and directing an event sales team through the entire sales process – lead generation, prospecting, securing contracts based on site fees and F&B minimums for our properties. This position is primarily focused on selling and driving revenue. The successful candidate must have solid sales and sales management expereince.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leads department with a shared vision for success using a planned proactive sales strategy.
  • High energy with effective and influential people skills; positive attitude and the desire to motivate a team
  • Can identify ways to improve sales growth based on historical, current, and future market industry, economic, competitive, and regional trends.
  • Aggressively tracks sales via pace reporting and delivers on a weekly basis.
  • Ability to sell our new site and F&B fees to upscale clients for destination/local weddings, corporate events, memorials, fundraisers, and parties.
  • With the support of the marketing team, effectively develop and execute an appropriate marketing plan, with tactics and collateral to increase sales.
  • Ability to think in abstracts for the purpose of complex problem solving with emotionally driven client situations.
  • Actively develops all subordinates to be a high-performing team, ensuring they have opportunities to grow their catering, event management and leadership skill base through personal attention, internal/external training and participation in industry events.
  • Effectively communicates any strategy changes to the sales/catering team.
  • Participates in new business scouting, presenting at industry trade shows, attending professional organizations and community events to maintain high visibility, network, and support of the achievement of sales and revenue goals.
  • Find creative ways to prospect new business – reader boards, local news, entertains potential clients/guests to the restaurants; hosting on-property FAM events with event planners, etc.
  • Use of social media and digital tools to communicate and manage accounts.
  • Responsible for attending numerous companywide meetings and following up on all expectations communicated at such meetings.
  • Delegates tasks and oversees functions of Catering Managers:
  • Reviews proposals, manages the function book/calendar and adjusts space to ensure maximum potential revenue.
  • Sees that Catering Managers respond in a timely manner and work with the client on planning, site inspections, selling, up-selling and detailing catering menus to meet their respective F&B minimums.
  • Follows up with the Catering Sales Managers to ensure all function details, such as space requirements, publicity, time schedule, food/beverage service, entertainment and decorations are properly booked for maximum revenue opportunities.
  • Reviews all BEOs for accuracy and ensures they are distributed to all key internal contacts. Utilizes proper communication channels to inform operating areas of guest’s contracted needs, special requests, and changes/revisions.
  • Effectively leads all applicable pre- and post-event meetings regarding upcoming client needs.
  • Monitors the timely receipt of all deposits, billing and payments for all events and business functions.
  • Exhibits excellent creativity in designing events and leveraging local vendors for music, audio visual, floral, and props.
  • Works with the Restaurant Managers and the Chefs in menu planning to maximize revenue based on budget.
  • Works with marketing and retail to select swag and retail items to upsell or provide VIP amenities

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or business-related field
  • Certification in Wedding and Event Planning preferred

Experience:

  • A minimum of 8+ years of successful sales experience, consistently exceeding quotas
  • Experience in hospitality, working with a catering company, an upscale hotel/resort, or other related/equivalent experience.
  • The ideal candidate comes with a network of clientele in the area and is a deal maker who is adept at consultative selling with a track record of sales accomplishments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
