This position will provide high quality hospital advanced life support including treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established within scope of practice; assisting the Emergency Department Physicians and Nursing staff while working under the direct license of the Emergency Department Medical Director and or his/ her appointees.

Essential Functions

• Assess extent of injuries or illness of trauma victims, patients with respiratory disease and stress, overdose and poisoning victims, industrial accident victims and other ill or injured individuals to determine emergency medical treatment
• Assist the RN with emergency care, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), oxygen, bandaging and splinting to patients
• Establish intravenous catheter (Saline Lock) for treatment (IV), apply adjunctive equipment for ventilation and circulation complications
• Phlebotomy on Emergency Department patients
• Document and record nature of injuries and treatment provided
• Arrange for hospital admission and outside referrals for the ER physician
• Measuring and recording vital signs
• Recording patient interview, history and chief compliant that is reviewed by ER Nurse
• Assisting the physician with exams and minor procedures
• Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used
• Collation and printing of surgical charts, data from “S” drive as related to each pre surgical patient
• Monthly review of department supplies on Crash Carts (x 2), Pediatric Braslows bag
• Registration of Emergency Department patients into Meditech Software System
• Assist within the Emergency Department during Cardiac Arrest
