EEG Technician

Operates electro neurodiagnostic equipment which measures and records electrical activity of the brain; assisting in the analysis and diagnosis of disorders in the brain; for preparation of the customer and collection of historical information pertinent to the interpretation of the tests. The technician relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish their goals. Customers may include neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Job description

  • Performs Electro neurodiagnostic (EEG) exams and procedures in an EEG lab or intraoperative environment, according to appropriate protocols, providing analysis of disorders of the brain as required.
  • Prepares customer for procedure; collects historical information pertinent to the interpretation of the tests.
  • Prepares EEG equipment for procedure. Calibrates and adjusts equipment, ensuring that it is operational prior to procedure.
  • Maintains equipment in clean, operating condition, and notifies appropriate person/department of equipment problems
  • Demonstrates understanding of concepts, practices, and procedures within the standards of practice for an EEG lab.
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvements of processes and services on an on-going basis.
  • Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.

Requirements:

Education • High school graduate or equivalent (i.e. GED) required.

  • Successful completion of an accredited EEG program preferred 2 years’ EEG Tech experience preferred.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Minimum 2 years' health care or customer service experience required.
  • Previous intraoperative EEG experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic EEG concepts, practices and procedures. Licensure/Certification(s) Mandatory
  • Current BLS Certification- NMHC Standard Licensure/Certification(s) Mandatory where Applicable Licensure/Certification(s) Preferred
  • Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist - NMHC Preferred
