The Role Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

This is an exciting role and will be pivotal in supporting the growth aspirations of Global Credit Markets in the Americas. The individual will be primarily focused on commercial real estate syndicate, but will also support the team across project finance, fund finance, leverage finance and corporate syndicated transactions.

Responsibilities

Strategy


  • Assist the development and management of distribution capabilities of Loan Syndicate, as part of the implementation of Loan Syndicate strategy aligned to the overall strategic direction of FM and CIB within the Americas regions.
  • Revenue – Help deliver the Regions and the overall Global TPI budget
  • Develop and manage distribution channels to bank and non-bank investors
  • Develop and maintain relationships with loan investors

Business


  • Distribution – Develop relationships with the loan investor universe, in order to achieve primary and secondary distribution volume targets whilst maximising skim income
  • Risk – Assist in reducing stick positions through sales and distribution across our footprints
  • Compliance – No breaches of compliance standards
  • Assist senior directors to coordinate with the business lines, to review deal structures, to optimize sell down timing, to monitor the bank underwriting exposure, with market sounding, pricing to market, internal reporting, maintaining market and client databases and execute the distribution strategies of primary syndicated loans.
  • Own bookrunning processes of Americas transactions whilst ensuring stakeholders are updated consistently on the primary syndication process.
  • Assist via bookrunning other regions’ transactions whilst ensuring stakeholders are updated consistently on the primary syndication process.
  • Assist distribution of secondary loans for the Bank
  • Provide loan market intelligence to GCM colleagues and other product partners
  • Adherence to and promotion of governance, compliance and risk standards.
  • Provide pricing feedback to various teams in Global Capital Markets as and when requested
  • Provide market intelligence to contribute to underwriting decisions and help in monitoring of underwriting risk.
  • Manage the team’s market comparable pricing and transactional database with analytical output provided to the wider team as required.
  • Write and maintain investors meeting reports and deal pipeline.
  • Coordinate with compliance on KYC process and monitoring.
  • Ensure timely and accurate update of underwritten deals status in internal systems.

Processes

PSR / RCAF Submissions

  • Provide syndication support to product partners and syndicate team on various transactions

Secondary Selldown

  • Draft T&C offer sheets according to the specifics of each transaction ensuring that they are accurate and contain the necessary marketing information as stipulated from time to time be Legal & Compliance

Underwriting Applications

  • Assist in providing information around Syndication strategy that is accurate and detailed for Underwriting Applications on a timely basis (i.e., resulting in minimal to no delays with respect to the transaction), according to the standard and format stipulated by Global Head, Financing Risk

Deal Ticket Submissions

  • Ensure timely and accurate submission secondary sales are inputted into the Deal ticket system
  • Ensure that sales are inputted into the LS Americas deal ticket book

Client Presentations

  • To assist originations in the preparation of client pitchbooks, deals teasers and RFP responses where necessary.

Internal Presentations

  • Support the team in the preparation of internal performance review presentations.

Investor Feedback capturing

  • Ensure that investors feedbacks are captured in the respective databases.

People & Talent

  • Build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement and sharing best practice

Risk Management

  • Responsible for the underwriting, syndication and distribution of syndicated loans
  • Limiting stick positions on underwritten positions.
  • Ensure that the syndication strategy is carried out within the Group’s risk appetite and reputational and credit and market risks are appropriately managed in conjunction with other stakeholders
  • Adherence to compliance standards including Private-Public Information Walls, Market Sounding etc

Governance


  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Responsible for delivering ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.
  • Accountable for escalation from Loan Syndicate, Americas and/or other Group governance committees or stakeholders in senior management, risk or control functions.

Expected annual base pay range for the role is $210,000 to $400,000. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location. At Standard Chartered Bank, Base pay is only part of the total compensation package.
