Position:

Rate of Compensation:

  • $25.00 to $28.00 per hour, negotiable based on applicable skillset and experience

Location:

  • Castle Rock, Colorado

Supervisor:

  • Superintendent

Purpose:

  • This position will be responsible adhering to a training program as established by Ludwig Drilling LLC (the Company) for project-based drilling operations in the field for the Company. The position will communicate with the field operations team to ensure effective and efficient operation of the drill is maintained.

Responsibilities:

  • Train to operate the drilling unit in accordance with safe and acceptable practices, under direct supervision of the Superintendent
  • Assist in inspecting the drilling unit and ensure compliance with all safety/regulatory requirements
  • Perform critical care and service to the machine after each use and each day
  • Learn and adhere to all manufacturer provided safety operational procedures and industry safety standards
  • Assist in the erection, dismantling, and moving of drilling rigs, and assist drilling crews in the preparation, set up, and operation of all drilling-related equipment. Build and/or erect formwork for drilled shafts
  • Rig loads and signal equipment operators, flagging traffic
  • Learn how to manage and direct the daily activities of the drill/rig crew, in accordance with blueprints and designated plans
  • Plan delivery of drilling tools, fuel, water, and other supplies for use at drill site
  • Focus on daily and weekly goals for the project with a high level of attention to detail
  • Maintain knowledge of and orders drilling bits to be used, according to the type of strata encountered
  • Work as part of a crew and take direction from supervisors
  • Complete assigned work activities in compliance with applicable OSHA and Company safety requirements
  • Attend and actively participate in safety meetings
  • Report all incidents, injuries, near misses to crew members and safety personnel
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and shipping containers related to drilling operations
  • Perform general clean up around the job site
  • Operate various construction instruments to achieve proper layout and elevation
  • Tying rebar, placing rebar cages, placing large anchor bolts, placing concrete, etc.
  • Read, interpret, and follow plans, specifications, and other contract related documents
  • Stock trucks with material commonly used on projects daily.
  • Perform all recordkeeping requirements and submit to appropriate company personnel
  • Conduct meetings with drill/rig crews to communicate daily objectives, special instructions, safety precautions and training activities as required
  • All other duties as assigned by Company management

Required Experience:

  • 3 years of direct / hands on heavy civil construction industry experience (Required)
  • 1 year of direct / hands on CDL driving experience (Required)
  • 3 years of direct / hands on geotechnical drilling experience (Preferred)

  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for project build process
  • Ability to clearly communicate with supervisors and co-workers
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment
  • Ability to learn and gain knowledge
  • Ability to follow work orders or receive instructions
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to work as part of a crew and to follow work orders or receive instructions
  • Ability to focus on daily and weekly goals for the project
  • Ability to work in compliance with applicable OSHA and Company safety requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required
    • PPE includes but is not limited to the following: hard hat, task specific safety glasses, life vest, respirators, task specific hearing protection, task specific safety shoes (steel toe or metatarsal), and /or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and may change based on the location in which the work is being completed
  • Ability to walk, step, climb, and otherwise move from one location on the job site to another
    • Depending on equipment in use, the chosen candidate must be able to physically get into and get out of equipment through the use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10 or more in height
  • Ability to visually see worksite environment and observe equipment operations (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to complete repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders. Working at elevated heights
  • Ability to lift up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required
  • Ability to carry up to and including fifty (50) lb. objects as required
  • Ability to adapt to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to the elements
  • Ability to work outdoors in all-weather conditions
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments as required

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Valid driver s license, CDL required
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Travel:

  • Travel is required on an is needed basis
