Responsibilities:
This position reports to the VP of Finance and serves as a key finance leader responsible for establishing and maintaining strong functional relations with key stakeholders in the division, maintain internal controls, assuring integrity of accounting operations and providing accurate financial reporting for the division. This position will also be responsible for the oversight of the general accounting operations; revenue management; and accounts payable, accounts receivable, pricing, billing and grants management.

  • Manage all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Provide management over the accounting/control professionals in the division and other extended finance groups
  • Support all audit activities.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep stakeholders abreast of divisional financial status.
  • Assist in driving improvement through business process and systems enhancements.
  • Hire and develop team members, build a robust team

Qualifications:
Education:
BS/BA required.
MBA or other master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:
Experience10+years of progressively responsible progressive accounting and financial experience, including research.

Professional accounting certification (CPA or equivalent) preferred

Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge of governmental accounting practices and procedures, fund accounting and fiscal management.
  • Works with the uniform chart of accounts using the guidelines of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of ERP environment (Oracle Cloud Fusion a plus)
  • Knowledge of procurement to pay.
  • Knowledge of functional areas of accounting, finance, and payroll
  • Knowledge of Research Accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $164,000/year to $190,000/year. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
