POSITION SUMMARY

The District Computer Technician will be responsible for hardware and software support for New Canaan Public Schools and Administrative Offices. The position has a focus area at Saxe Middle School with additional assignments related to other NCPS buildings where deemed appropriate by the Manager of Technology Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*

• * Respond in a timely manner to support requests for hardware/software troubleshooting, maintenance or repair work.

• Regular communication with end-users, Manager of Technology Services, and District Support Specialist regarding status of ticket requests and issue resolution.

• Work closely with staff and student users to understand software/hardware application and maintenance needs.

• Test all hardware changes and software modifications and abide by DTS department protocol.

• Provide the Manager of Technology Services with regular updates documenting daily activity, long term projects, hardware repairs, and support request resolutions.

• Adhere to all copyright laws and licensing agreements when installing software.

• Perform other duties deemed appropriate by the Manager of Technology Services.

• Organization and inventory of NCPS computer equipment and related storage supply areas.

• Regular monitoring of the Saxe student helpdesk located in the Saxe Media Center.

• Regular repair work related to student 1:1 devices.

QUALIFICATIONS
*

• * College Degree preferred.

• Service oriented with interpersonal skills capable of establishing positive and productive working relationships with end-users.

• Time management skills to manage multiple projects and assignments.

• Analytical and problem solving skills for identifying and resolving hardware and/or application related issues.

• Up-to-date working knowledge of Windows 7, Windows 10, MAC OS and iOS.

• Understanding of network concepts, protocols and connectivity settings.

• General understanding of Cybersecurity best practices.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $51,000.00 per year
