ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Dispatch Manager coordinates the utilization of trucks, trailers, drivers, and containers in order to maximize capacity and productivity, while assuring prompt and effective service to customers.
- Supervises full-time and part-time dispatchers by making recommendations on hiring, training, and disciplinary actions.
- Conducts performance evaluations and provides continual feedback to part-time dispatchers.
- Maintains tracking of the location of all trailers.
- Downloads driver handhelds.
- Reports driver problems to the appropriate department or supervisor for resolution.
- Analyzes the way trucks are loaded, assuring they are within weight restrictions as well as DOT hours.
- Complies with all federal and state transportation laws.
- Plans loading of new accounts onto trucks.
- Responsible for training of personnel.
- Participates in the development of department goals and objectives.
- Assists team members in picking, staging, loading, unloading, rotation and storage of product when needed.
- Promotes and enforces a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA and company policies and procedures with efforts to reduce work-related injuries.
- Jockeys tractors and trailers if needed.
- Reroutes territories and routes to make them the most efficient.
- Runs reports regarding routes current and future.
- Analyzes and reports on information gathered thru GPS.
- Seeks efficiencies in warehouse operations and makes recommendations.
- Conducts maintenance on software used.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Education or Equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in a warehouse setting
- Previous supervisory experience required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Requires organization skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a high profile and fast paced environment.
- Requires basic math skills.
- Requires basic computer skills including Excel and Word.
- Requires ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to make solid analytical decisions.
