BASIC FUNCTION
The Dishwasher is responsible for performing various kitchen cleaning and storage activities including dish washing, pot washing, general equipment cleaning, storage and overall janitorial duties in the kitchen and dining areas. Adheres to customer service philosophy by providing excellent customer service to residents, their families, and Team Members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide a high level of customer service to residents, resident families, and Team Members by achieving the standards as outlined in the MG CARES program.
- Cleans pots, pans, and dishes following prescribed procedures found in Company Policy and Procedure for
Kitchen Sanitation.
- Assists the cooks in preparation of the breakfast, lunch or dinner meals.
- Prepares dishwasher machine for next dishwashing period.
- Records wash, rinse and sanitize levels on the Dish Machine Temperature Log Sheet.
- Handles all foods, storage, and cleaning activities in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards in compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory procedures regarding food storage, cleaning and preparation.
- Completes all cleaning duties on daily, weekly or monthly cleaning schedules.
- Removes all garbage from the kitchen and dish room.
- Mops the dish-room and kitchen floors twice daily and as needed.
- Follows all closing procedures as outlined in Company Policies and Procedures as the last employee to leaving the kitchen, at the end of the shift.
- Assists with other duties including prep work, hot or cold line assistance, food storage, and dating and labeling.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- None.
Experience:
- At least 16 years of age.
- Able to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit, if required.
- Able to communicate both in written and spoken English.
- Consistent and punctual attendance for shifts.
- Flexibility with schedule and be available to work different shifts as well as days, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to successfully multitask and be adaptable to changing demands.
- Maintains compassion for and desire to work with elderly.
- Meets all health requirements (including TB) and pass drug/alcohol and background checks.
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to ensure the health and safety of our residents and team members.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands and work environment described below represent the activities and surroundings of the position:
- Frequently lifts and carries up to 20 lbs., and occasionally lifts and carries up to 60 lbs.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent bending, squatting, reaching, twisting and rotating of head, neck, torso and arms.
- Occasionally will climb stairs and push/pull up to 40 lbs.
- Regularly required to talk, see, hear, and use hands to handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. Able to smell as necessary to discern resident’s needs and/or building emergencies.
- Able to handle, grasp and reach occasionally to frequently throughout the workday.

DISHWASHER
All positions are required to follow the main focus of our Falls Policy which states the following:
- 911 must be called for medical evaluation if a resident has a visible injury to the head, complains of headache or vision problems, or is not acting as they normally do within 24 hours of a fall. If the resident’s emergency contact is present with the resident and the resident prefers they take them immediately to be evaluated medically, this would be acceptable in place of calling 911. We will not wait for the emergency contact to arrive if they are not already at the community. The head includes any part of the body above the neck. Even if no head injury is apparent, there may be a serious injury requiring medical attention.
