We are looking for a leader who has a history delivering innovative sensor material solutions that will be responsible for continuing the development our next-gen sensing platform for commercialization. Help drive the development of a new library of materials that can detect vapors and gases that can determine type, control sensitivity and selectivity. Application areas will range from transportation, security, IoT as well as health and safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assume a leadership role within multidisciplinary teams to support the development of novel chemical sensors based on Lyten's 3D graphene materials from concept to product delivery.
  • Manage and lead the development and growth of a team of scientists and engineers. Must be able to manage multiple projects and clearly communicate ideas to the team.
  • Evaluate various sensing materials and optimize the vapor/gas sensor performance.
  • Work closely with the hardware development team to integrate novel sensing materials at the device level.
  • Perform statistical analysis, generating statistical insights to improve the chemical sensor architectures and/or test processes.
  • Apply data analysis results to aid the design of next-generation sensor products.
  • Assist in process development for transition to volume manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • PhD in chemistry or materials science with 10+ years of industry experience related to sensing technologies.
  • Deeply familiar with materials synthesis and understanding of molecular interactions to design and develop new sensing materials for targeted applications.
  • Must have a broad understanding of a range of chemical sensor technologies, especially for defense and industrial applications.
  • A strong background in carbon science, surface modification, and gas sensing test protocol developments.
  • A strong record of research accomplishments in chemical sensors is required. Experience with microarray technologies and array-based sensors is preferred.
  • Flexible to effectively manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously. Must possess a strong background in project management, organization and problem-solving.
  • Expert in project management with excellent written and oral communication skills, managing resource allocation to ensure project deliverables are met on time.

Physical Requirements

  • This role will require long periods of standing in a laboratory environment.
  • The employee will be required to use his or her hands for lab instrument operation and micropipetting.
  • Must pass a respirator fitment test.
  • Required chem-/bio-safety training upon hiring.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or move objects up to 20 lbs.
