Director/Senior Director - Sustainability

Dentons Global Advisors - Albright Stonebridge Group seeks a Director/Senior Director for its Sustainability Practice. Successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience working in the private sector and in-depth knowledge of two or more of the following core subject matters: decarbonization, energy transition, water, plastics/recyclables, and/or supply chain. Candidates must demonstrate experience managing multiple, complex projects and possess exceptional written and oral communication and people skills. Responsibilities will include assisting Practice Lead/Manager in client management, impact, and retention and leverage their own expertise and networks for business development. Must play well with others.

Director/Senior Director- Sustainability will serve as a core member of numerous and varied client engagements. They may hold the full context of the client relationship and marshal firm resources to ensure effective client service. A Director/Senior Director will leverage the capabilities of ASG leaders and continue to strengthen their own expertise and networks. They will develop an intimate understanding of the clients’ business and operating context and are substantive, credible, and reliable resources for multiple clients. They take initiative and increasingly are expected to operate independently as they mentor, manage, and backstop teammates as needed. Backstop Associates and Senior Associates when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in managing ASG client team members to produce agreed upon products. Sets clear expectations for deliverables to teammates.
  • Supports less-experienced team members' professional development and works to identify additional development opportunities.
  • Supports practice lead/manager and senior staff to cultivate and integrate Senior Advisors, Counselors, and other members of the ASG network, and engages them effectively in client service and business development.
  • Serves as a member of (and may lead, as assigned) defined client teams, focused on overall strategy, driver day to day internal coordination.
  • Ensures that all firm resources are coordinated and brought to bear as needed, reporting concerns to senior staff, including efficiently applying ASG resources on a client engagement, with a goal of enhancing client profitability.
  • Fosters cross-practice relationships to help enable the leading and shaping of sustainability activities in the firm.
  • Works with the Practice Lead and Manger to help generate prospects, including seeking potential expansion opportunities with current clients.
  • Continues to develop personal network of relationships to cultivate potential clients and creatively build new business, and to foster broad ASG networks through interaction with associations, think tanks and policy shops.

  • Teamwork: Interacts effectively with colleagues at all levels and across firm. Manages ASG team members to work together to produce agreed upon deliverables. Works to create a positive work environment.
  • Firm Contribution: Contributes to the development, administration, and culture of the firm. Takes a leadership role in institution building.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five to ten years of prior professional experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, public policy, international development, business administration, or a related field; equivalent experience with a Master’s in related field a plus.
  • Experience working within a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex projects in an organized and efficient manner.
