JOB SUMMARY

The Director Quality Assurance ensures the vision, mission and objectives are communicated and understood within the organization. The Director Quality Assurance is a global role that reports to the COO and works with multi-site companies, setting up quality systems, and integrating quality into MRP/ERP systems. The role works with the FAA, EASA and LBA in all aspects of aircraft seating certification, auditing, and communication, this includes FAA/EASA Part 21, FAA/EASA Part 145, and EASA AP/DOA. The Director works with Boeing and Airbus in achieving and maintaining approved supplier status and leads organization sites through respective requirements and audits. The Director interacts with Customer Management at an executive level. The Director Quality Assurance champions efforts in problem solving and continuous improvement.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES - Essential Functions (Other duties and projects may be assigned or requested.)

  • Develop and implement a robust Quality Management System.
  • Develop and implement a robust APQP system.
  • Work with Site Operations teams, provide for in-line and end-of-line seat and furniture assembly inspection.
  • Develop and implement a robust auditing system of the Quality Management System.
  • Develop vision, strategy, and objectives for quality.
  • Maintain good customer communication and relationships; strive to meet or exceed customer satisfaction expectations and performance requirements.
  • Demonstrate expertise in AS9100 and all FAA, EASA and LBA aerospace regulatory requirements.
  • Set up and lead processes for Supply Chain selection, auditing, performance monitoring, and supplier corrective action reporting process.
  • Lead each site in AS9100 training and compliance; assuring all employees are properly prepared for annual recertification audits
  • Integrate quality requirements into ERP/MRP systems.
  • Lead process and continuous improvement.
  • Identify contractual requirements and risks for exposure, and aid to implement mitigation plans.
  • Direct and develop Quality Management processes.
  • Administer and assist management with monitoring and reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Establish and maintain an effective Receiving / Inspection (R/I) process, providing quick turnaround (<= 2 days) from dock to stock.
  • Establish robust minimal inspection and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) processes focusing on key characteristics, with an end goal of working with suppliers to develop a supplier dock-to-stock (DTS) process that eliminates the need for company R/I at part receipt.
  • Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) process at each site with the target of <30-day closeout of open non-conformances.
  • Work with team to develop processes and systems to achieve Airbus offerability.
  • Maintain Gold Status with Boeing for quality and delivery.
  • Manage Quality Managers reporting directly to them.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS – Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required
  • Master’s Degree, JD, or Ph D. Desired
  • ASQ Certification Desired

Experience:

  • 10+ years’ aerospace quality experience working in a high-volume manufacturing facility
  • Previous experience working in both EASA and FAA regulations associated with the Aerospace industry

Skills:

  • Detailed knowledge of regulations and AS9100 standards associated with quality assurance for the aerospace industry
  • Ability to technically write, create, define, and document quality assurance processes and procedures

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Competent working with FAA, EASA and LBA in all aspects of aircraft seating certification, auditing, and communication. This includes FAA/EASA Part 21, FAA/EASA Part 145, and EASA AP/DOA.
  • Experienced with working with Boeing and Airbus in achieving and maintaining approved supplier status, and ability leading organization sites through respective requirements and audits.
  • Skilled at interacting with Customer Management at an executive level.
  • Strong leadership skills with Quality Managers, Quality Engineers, and other staff. Skilled at streamlining quality / inspections systems and removing waste and redundancy.
  • Skilled at mapping business processes – activities – flowcharts.

Other:

  • May be asked to work extended or irregular hours as required.
  • This position requires up to approximately 25% travel, including travel which is Global and overnight.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSE

  • ASQ Quality Manager and Quality Engineering certification desired.

  • Direction is provided for assignments in terms of desired outcome (goals), timing and budget. Work is reviewed or measured in terms of meeting organizational objectives and schedules.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY

  • Manages team for adherence to organizational goals, operating policies, and budgetary guidelines. Manages team performance and is responsible for training and coaching.

PROBLEM SOLVING

  • Develop and provide solutions to complex problems based on established precedents, consistent with organization objectives.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Salary Range Transparency: $160,000 - $190,000 annually, depending on candidate qualifications
