- Bachelor’s degree required.

- Strong oral presentation and written communication skills.
- Highly organized.
License/Certification Required
- Valid driver’s license and ability to rent vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with transfer or non-traditional populations and/or community college students.
- Demonstrated success in working with diverse students.
- Experience utilizing a CRM for communication with prospective students and experience using various social media platforms.
- Experience recruiting/advising students transferring to senior institutions OR as a Transfer Student Mentor, Student Ambassador, Resident Assistant, Tour Guide, Orientation Leader, or similar role.
- Commitment to student-centered quality customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Transfer Admissions & Engagement (TAE) is in the division of Enrollment Management. The mission of the Division of Enrollment Management is to strategically plan, implement, and assess services and programs which facilitate student preparation for college, recruitment, enrollment, and graduation. The mission of TAE is to cultivate an inclusive environment that elevates the higher education experience by advocating, collaborating, and providing innovative service to recruit, retain, and graduate students. Additionally, TAE will coordinate programming and services intended to help students integrate into the Appalachian community and improve retention.
This position will recruit, advise, and enroll prospective transfer & online students in defined territories to meet the University’s strategic enrollment goals through extensive outreach and relationship building activities.
This is a remote/regional position based in Raleigh with territories throughout the eastern part of North Carolina. This work arrangement is within the State of North Carolina, consistent with university policy. It is expected that travel to main campus (Boone, NC) will occur for monthly staff meetings, large transfer recruitment events, and university events.
- Serve as a territory manager for Appalachian’s transfer and online student recruitment efforts.
- Plan and execute all recruiting operations necessary to meet recruitment and enrollment goals within an assigned geo-market. Develop a strategic recruitment plan for the assigned geo-markets.
- Advise prospective students regarding coursework at their current institution per the Baccalaureate Degree Plans and Credit Equivalency Database.
- Travel to college fairs, college nights, and other programs in this region to recruit prospective transfer and online students. Host Lunch & Learns, conduct advising appointments, and develop other recruiting efforts in territory. Offer virtual opportunities such as Transfer Webinars and 1-on-1 chats.
- Strengthen ties with community college counselors/advisors and other key influences in the recruitment process within the assigned geo-market.
- Promote Aspire Appalachian on partner institution campuses within territory, serve as Appalachian point of contact, present in ACA 122 classes, and meet the prescribed Appalachian responsibilities of the signed agreement.
- Conduct extensive outreach and relationship/conversation-building activities (via in person communication, phone, texting, email, written correspondence, and social media) to prospective students, applicants, and admitted and confirmed transfer students.
- Advise prospective and admitted students (transfer, online, early college, or dual enrollment) that call TAE regarding prior college coursework, admission requirements and processes, and the transition process to Appalachian. Be knowledgeable of other offices and their services to refer students when appropriate.
- Assist students (and families) in any way possible as they move through the recruitment cycle.
- Set up department visits with academic departments for prospective students to learn more about their intended majors.
- Provide admission decision recommendations for selected applicants from assigned territory.
- Present recruitment and transitional information at ACA classes, Open House, and other venues.
- Work with other members of the transfer recruitment team on event planning, digital engagement, and other initiatives to meet recruitment goals.
- Support Enrollment Management events
- Complete other duties as assigned.
