Director of Pickleball (Full-Time Position)

Lifetime Activities is looking for a company-wide Director of Pickleball to oversee and provide guidance to our six Bay Area operations (Cupertino, Pleasanton, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and Walnut Creek.)

Share your love of pickleball and impressive background with the sport to help promote, develop, and grow Lifetime Activities’ programs for our diverse and passionate patron base.

This off-court leadership position will be the leader and steward of Lifetime Activities' pickleball. This immersive, non-competing position will represent the company, inspire staff, share resources/insight, and leverage connections to provide novel advancement opportunities.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Ensure quality instruction, safety, and positive coaching are at the forefront of all lessons through meetings/training sessions with staff
• Improve and grow our group lesson offerings with development pathways in mind
• Be a model of professionalism, care, and enthusiasm
• Foster positive working relationships with pickleball staff through regular site visits
• Serve as a resource for all pickleball staff
• Promote Lifetime Activities' programming and coaching opportunities through connections in the sport
• Provide input/direction (and day-of in-person support) for tournaments, leagues, socials, and other special events
• Grow Lifetime Activities' pickleball footprint through the brokering of new opportunities, fostering goodwill and experience to help obtain pickleball facilities management agreements, and providing expertise in expanding designated pickleball courts at our existing operations.

Skills, Qualities and Experience:

• Loves sports - passion for pickleball
• Engaging/magnetic personality
• Enjoys helping and interacting with the public and pickleball staff alike
• A team-focused attitude is essential
• A fun, friendly, and welcoming attitude that the public and pickleball staff respond to is a must
• The ability to communicate effectively in-person and electronically (email/Zoom/etc.) is a must
• Strong pickleball playing ability (4.5+ rating)
• Pickleball coaching certification required for 5+ years
• Experience conducting large group pickleball clinics for 3+ years
• Experience leading a team of 10+ pickleball staff members for 3+ years
• Pickleball ambassadorship preferred, but not required
• Previous experience running staff/team training sessions (certified pickleball clinician status preferred)
• Track record of pickleball growth through novel blending/access/construction of courts
• Highly regarded by persons and associations involved in the Bay Area and throughout the West Coast
• Open to sharing/convincing connections to partner with Lifetime Activities
• Available for full-time contribution (5-6 days a week and as-needed by the company)
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Reliable transportation required
• Must pass DOJ/FBI background check
• Must be USTA Safe Play-certified (within 2 weeks of hire)

Schedule

• Full-time, exempt position (5-6 days/week; as-needed by the company)
• Some weekend site visits and program/events/staff supervision required

Wages & Benefits

• $100,000 annual salary
• Biannual individual and pickleball division performance reviews (May & November)
• 401K with up to 4% company match (after 6 months for those 21+ years of age)
