Position Summary
The Director of Marketing (DM) is responsible for all marketing of the company. The DM is part of the senior management team and is responsible for leading a marketing team to achieve the company goals. This position will lead the development and execution of multi-channel marketing strategies, underlying tactics, sales enablement, and campaigns needed to drive awareness and engagement for various verticals. From creating on-demand collateral development such as request for proposal presentations and trade show execution, to helping execute key marketing programs and account targeting. They will leverage their extensive marketing experience and comprehensive knowledge of branding to exceed the objectives of the business development team, as well as those of the company. Strong project and leadership management skills are essential, as is a proven track record of driving campaign performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
The DM must be a leader, guiding the team and company to design and implement marketing and product awareness initiatives that drive awareness of our solutions, resulting in increased usage of those solutions. The target audience is both our customer - state governments, and our customers’ customers, i.e., the citizens they serve. Because of this, the marketing team must be creative and innovative in driving awareness. The DM must embody that creativity and innovativeness.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- After immersing themselves into the company to learn our markets, products, and customers; define, document, and execute a marketing plan to result in meeting the goals of the company
- Guide and motivate the marketing team to execute upon a defined plan
- Effectively monitor and report upon the impact of marketing initiatives
- Engage with Business Development, Operations, and technology teams to clearly understand the direction of each segment of the company
- Works closely with SVP of Sales & Marketing to develop and implement marketing and campaign strategies for the company
- Collaborate with the Sales team to uncover insights and strategies to develop and implement marketing and branding strategies for new and existing products
- Identify short-term and long-term scheduling, budget, and resource needs, including the development and management of an annual marketing budget, profit/loss projections, expenditure spending, and other financial considerations
- Understand key marketing performance metrics and tracking tools to provide market research, forecasts, competitive analyses, campaign results, and consumer trends to translate results into actionable insights for marketing team
- Spearhead the strategic and tactical execution of marketing campaigns, including design, implementation, tracking, results reporting, analysis, and recommendations
- Manage conception, development, and implementation of marketing plan and strategies, product concepts, and promotional programs to drive interest and sales
- Attend and/or participate at conventions, conferences, and tradeshows, preparing engaging displays and collateral as needed, and providing post-event reports and analysis
- Support and/or participate in Request for Proposal (RFP) process as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing, advertising, or communications with 7-10 years minimum progressive marketing experience
- At least three years’ experience managing the marketing team/function for a growing company, preferably serving government agencies. Successful track record in senior marketing roles and creating marketing campaigns
- Experience with digital and print marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Proven ability to plan and manage budgets
- An innovative, self-motivated individual, with a desire to be part of a winning team.
- Ability to motivate team members to exceed expectations
- Proven ability to successfully manage multiple objectives, often with near-simultaneous deliverable times, while maintaining sharp attention to quality
- Excellent listening and presentation skills
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Salesforce.com, Search Engine Optimization, and Marketing Automation required
- Perform ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned
