Job Description:

The Director of Maintenance oversees the maintenance department goals, processes, and procedures to accomplish company objectives. They delegates authority to managers, supervisors, and mechanics/technicians/specialists for support and production to perform all requirements. The Director of Maintenance will have the responsibility, both operationally and financially, for the Company’s maintenance functions at the KCMA facility.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Planning, coordinating, and directing the technicians and relevant support staff assigned to them in the performance of maintenance and alterations on the aircraft to ensure the timely return to service.
  • Maintaining an open line of communication with the customer to ensure all relevant information is provided to the customer as it relates to the successful completion of the work scope on the aircraft or component.Communication would include quoting of work, providing regular status updates, and explanations of work performed.
  • The planning, direction, and coordination of activities within the Maintenance Department and the planning of its activities in conjunction with other departments as required to ensure aircraft are completed on time.
  • Establish safety standards and ensuring adequate safety precautions are observed and adhered to so that injuries are avoided.
  • Ensure that all personnel under their supervision perform quality work, provide training and guidance as appropriate
  • Ensure all applicable maintenance entries on maintenance forms, Work Orders, and Inspection forms used by the Repair Station are properly executed and completed in accordance with the procedures of the Repair Station/Quality Control manuals by the responsible lead technician, before an aircraft is submitted for final inspection.
  • Preparation of log book entries and returning aircraft to service.
  • Be available at any time to handle AOG situations and field customer calls.
  • Performs all other duties outlined in the CFR 145 Repair Station Manual.
  • Assist with hiring, training, and developing the maintenance team

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience within general aviation maintenance operations, including Part 145, and equivalent operational experience to include familiarity with aircraft maintenance scheduling, team management, and customer relations.
  • 5+ years in Supervisor or Management role.
  • Experience setting standards and operational guidelines.
  • Extraordinary customer focus.
  • Current FAA issued certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings and no violations.
  • Have Inspector Authorization or be able to obtain within three months.
  • Ability to meet all FAA requirements and approval for the Director of Maintenance designation.
  • Experience with aircraft management record keeping programs, such as Corridor.
  • Interface and communicate well with customers, vendors, team members, and Chief Pilots.
  • Excellent people management, conflict resolution, and resource allocation skills
  • Proficient with computer including email and Microsoft Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of current FAA regulations and FARs.
  • Must live local or willing to relocate
  • Willing to work overtime, including weekends as needed.
