About the Role:
Nu Vision 2025 has 3 Strategic Imperatives: 1) Launch EmpowerMe Personalized beauty & wellness strategy with IO connected devices 2) Establish our Affiliate-powered Social Commerce business model 3) Delight our customers with our integrated dot.com and app digital ecosystem. Technology leadership and customer technology capability will be a critical success factor in the pursuit of this goal. This new Director will work to break down silos across the organization as it helps drive digital fluency, critical talent, and capabilities, and informs and influences the company’s senior executives towards embracing the new technological landscape.
The Director, Global Engineering has a broader primary responsibility for setting up and executing the technology strategy for Nu Skin’s eCommerce (Web, Mobile, API), Eventing and Integration capability in the areas of design, development, and/or support that can span across multiple business units globally as part of Nu Vision 2025 digital transformation. The Director, Global Engineering will collaborate closely with the Product Management, SAP & Data CoEs, Security, Enterprise Architecture, and the Global Infrastructure teams to align the delivery of eCommerce and integration solutions.
At a high level, but not limited to, the Director will have the following responsibilities:
Strategy and execution of Customer Experience Technology:

Develop the technology vision, strategy, and roadmap for digital solutions, considering the organization’s business objectives
Leadership and Change Management:

Be a trusted advisor for the VPs, CTO, CPOs, CISO, Sr. Directors in Marketing and other functional stakeholders

Facilitate and drive alignment among key stakeholders to create a shared view of roadmaps, priorities, and timelines
People and Organization
-
Foster a business-oriented culture and mindset in the organization, with clear understanding of the team’s contribution to delivering on our brand promise
-
Provide leadership, coaching to direct reports (Sr. Manager/Manage level), and support them in their professional development
-
Build digital talent and capabilities in the organization and work across the organization to break down silos
Vendor Management
-
Accountable for managing the relationship with the technology vendors and development teams balancing with the business timelines
Cost and Budget
-
Manage budgeting and funding of the technology teams and products in their organization
-
In partnership with technology teams, define engineering KPI’s and ensure regular and consistent reporting of progress against goals
Operations
-
Operate digital technologies promoting the availability, reliability, performance, and scalability of the solutions
Key Job Functions/Requirements

Build and lead cross-functional and high performing engineering teams that are responsible for delivering the Nu Skin’s digital applications at scale with cradle to grave ownership

Transform waterfall, project/program-based teams into product centric organization

Develop a multi-year plan for starting-up ramping-up and scaling-up the IT Modernization & Innovation Organization, including the roles, responsibilities, and skills required for such an organization

Overall strategy and models for API's to seamlessly integrate data across Nu Skin and its partners and clients

Develops and executes technical software development strategy for eCommerce applications and systems using current business roadmap by analyzing competitive trends and patterns; analyzing the technology landscape; evaluating short and long-term implications and communicating strategies and change initiatives clearly

Evangelize a DevOps mindset where your teams are accountable for product from inception to sunset

Acts as a resource to the business in the application of eCommerce technologies

Addresses system and business issues and resolves them to have a positive effect on the entire department and not just the individual subject area

Consolidating fragmented technology landscape with a global eCommerce platform, empowering customers by providing a set of industry-leading self-service capabilities and creating a frictionless customer experience in omni-channel way

Responsible for recommending final hiring and termination decisions, overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of employees. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning and directing work; managing performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Proactively directs, designs, and develops, cutting edge E-business solutions ensuring the integration of varying technology environments using MACH principles

Reduces customer impact due to applications systems issues by ensuring high quality using quality standards, performing root cause analysis, and developing a future prevention plan, reducing defects leakage, and improving defect removal efficiency

Additional Job Requirements:

Minimum of 15+ years of programming and systems design, deployment, and management experience with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Relevant Science and Math disciplines with an IS emphasis OR Master’s degree with 10 years of management experience in programming and systems design, deployment in distributed architecture and cloud-native

Strong proficiency with cloud services (ex: AWS, GCP, Azure), modern JS frameworks (ex: React, Angular, NodeJS), SQL and NoSQL DBMS (eg SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, Dynamo), Object oriented development (eg Java, Node.js, Go, Rust or .NET/C#), native and/or hybrid mobile development (eg iOS, Android, React/React Native, Flutter, Ionic), REST based microservice APIs, DevOps & CI/CD

An ideal candidate should have technology design, delivery, and production support expertise for large-scale Omni-channel technology teams.

Software delivery leveraging agile and lean practices at scale.

Experience in breaking monolithic codebases into Microservices while moving On-Premises to a Container Cloud eCommerce Platform. Specialized in Microservices, event driven Architecture using Kubernetes (AKS or EKS)

Experience with business process architecture and business process transformation with the following preferred

Experience constructing a data fabric or similar architectures

Design and architecture of event driven framework in modular and composable way

Integration of AI and ML in business applications, experience with NoSQL, graph and cloud databases

Experience in Automating application build and deployment with CI/CD. Define and execute the strategy to move from SysOps to DevSecOps. Build and Deploy Automation using Gitlab, Jenkins, Selenium, SonarQube, etc.

Proficient in TDD approach, implementing best QA practices in automating the unit testing, integration and regression test suits and scenarios to enable 99.999% platform availability
