Crafty Mart is looking for its next Education + Events Director to join our growing team! As our Education + Events Director, your focus will be on the design, coordination, and execution of our Maker Sessions, Crafty Mart’s seasonal markets, and educational programming and partnerships. Supported by our Executive Director, you will own how these programs operate - everything from vendor + volunteer coordination and communication to community outreach to being the Day Of Point of Contact. In this role, you will also manage supplemental resources for Crafty Mart’s audiences, including our Crafty Closet operations and our social media accounts and newsletters to our subscribers.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as the main on-site point of contact for Creative Catapult and Crafty Mart markets
  • Design, develop, and manage educational classes and programs; seek and develop expanded education + partner opportunities
  • Lead and oversee Crafty Mart Maker Sessions, including recruiting makers and speakers and developing marketing content
  • Develop and execute programs that manage the growth and awareness of the Crafty Closet
  • Enforce market guidelines, compliance, and rules with venues, vendors, customers, and food and alcohol licensing/sales; update vendor Code of Conduct as needed
  • Coordinate site logistics with venues and communicate those logistics to vendors and volunteers
  • Coordinate schedules of setup and breakdown of vendors
  • Create and organize market applications for vendors
  • Assist the Executive Director with jurying process for each market
  • Prepare, send, and follow up on market fee invoicing
  • Organize and schedule additional market activities, which may include live music, DIY workshops, prepared food vendors, security, and cleaning services
  • Manage recruiting, training, and coordination of interns and/or volunteers as needed
  • Manage Crafty Mart’s social media - includes creation of content, posting + engaging with followers, + ensuring our online presence is on-brand and active
  • Manage Crafty Mart’s Maker Session, vendor, and shopper email lists and communications

  • Experience in the Arts community, nonprofit management, and/or comparable management experience
  • Strong operational management skills including scheduling, project management, and change management
  • Proven financial acumen, including managing budgets, maintaining costs, and meeting deadlines
  • Event management experience, including coordination of vendors, volunteers, and venues
  • Experience designing + leading social media programs
  • Excellent customer service skills for providing information, answering questions, and responding to complaints from vendors and customers
  • Proficient with Google Workspace applications
  • Experience with Canva, or other comparable design tool, is a Plus
  • Experience with MailChimp, Tiny Letter, or other email management software is a Plus
  • Self-autonomous and independent
  • Organized with great time management and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation and Scheduling:

This position is a part-time position, with flexible hours averaging 20 hours per week, and a paying rate of $18 - 20/hour. The position is largely remote with mandatory in-person attendance for Crafty Mart Markets, Maker Sessions, Creative Catapult, and other onsite events as needed. Our current 2023 calendar includes:

  • Cuyahoga Falls Night Market - July 28th
  • Halloween Mini Market - October 7th
  • 15th Annual Holiday Market - November 25th and 26th
