Position Overview

The Director, Compensation will have the responsibility for leading the design, development, implementation planning and delivery of Masco Corporation’s global executive compensation, equity programs and broad-based compensation strategy reporting to the Company’s Chief Human Resource Officer. He/she will be a key member of the HR Leadership team, advising and interfacing regularly with C-Suite leadership, business unit executives and other stakeholder groups. The Director will be a subject matter expert on modern compensation programs and overall market trends. This leader will possess a strategic mindset and will provide valuable insight to build overall organizational capability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a robust and comprehensive executive rewards strategy/philosophy and plans that aligns with business objectives and attracts top talent.
  • Participate in the design and manage the implementation and administration of executive compensation programs for officers and key executives. Programs may include base pay review and analysis, short- and long-term incentive plan design and equity plan design. Analyze design alternatives and recommend program changes that support the Company’s executive compensation and business strategies.
  • Provide leadership, counsel, and guidance on annual compensation review and bonus planning, equity and compensation business processes. Work with executive team to evaluate and approve off-cycle salary increase requests.
  • Works with internal staff and external third-party vendors which administers our long-term incentive programs for employees and non-executive directors. Ensure annual and off-cycle equity grants are appropriately managed.
  • Anticipate future trends and implications for the executive rewards program; provide ongoing evaluation of incentive programs to ensure alignment with Company business strategy.
  • Project manage and prepare the board of director’s compensation committee materials.
  • Development of compensation related materials in support of the Company’s annual proxy statement, including the development of compensation-related disclosures (CD & A) and other filings (CEO Pay Ratio) as required.
  • Lead the research and benchmarking of compensation best practices, monitoring of legal developments, evaluating emerging trends, keeping appraised of technological advancements and conducting benchmark comparisons.
  • Provide consultation on executive compensation matters to senior human resource leaders for new hires, promotions and terminations. Provide executive compensation briefings to eligible executives, as necessary (e.g., new hires or newly promoted).
  • Complete all compliance reporting and analysis, including all SOX and other compliance processes for executive compensation.
  • Support and lead other broad-based compensation projects, as necessary.
  • Work with legal counsel to ensure compliance with all governmental regulations related to executive rewards programs/ Interfaces with Legal, Accounting, Tax, Audit, and others regarding compensation programs to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Lead market analysis to regularly benchmark executive compensation. Provide technical guidance on executive pay and equity issues to business unit leaders and Human Resource staff.
  • Evaluate any new or revised executive jobs and determine appropriate job grades and salary ranges.
  • Advise and consult with business unit stake holders on broad-based compensation, including salaried and hourly structured programs.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; compensation certification preferred.
  • At least 10 years compensation experience with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in executive compensation having deep executive compensation skills and knowledge in support of equity programs and public reporting.
  • Experience working for global, publicly traded company.
  • Experience preparing compensation materials and presenting to Board of Directors stakeholders
  • Ability to apply analytical, problem solving and influencing skills, while developing and delivering their deep technical expertise in in executive total rewards.
  • Demonstrated experience working with executive leadership and senior management.
  • Demonstrated progressive knowledge of regulatory and legislative factors impacting executive compensation and reward programs.
