The Director, Compensation will lead the planning, administration, and implementation of compensation programs for Kaplan North America (KNA). This role will focus on analysis & financial modeling, research, and the delivery and ongoing evolution of compensation programs, decisions, and practices.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Direct the daily and monthly activities of the compensation programs in accordance with established policies and procedures to include bonus plans and sales incentive plans
  • Lead compensation benchmarking and other analyses to assess pay for incumbents, new job evaluation, and during the recruiting process
  • Lead the annual salary benchmarking exercise for the organization, supporting on cycle promotions and market-based adjustments with a heavy focus on particularly competitive roles in technology, product, and marketing
  • Prepare annual and ad hoc submissions for processes that require Compensation Committee approval
  • Create and maintain spreadsheet tools distributed to leaders across the organization that enable leaders to participate in compensation programs that require their input
  • Leads and conducts analysis, modeling, and recommendations to assess and develop a variety of compensation programs such as commissions, annual and long-term incentive programs, and other rewards programs
  • Partner with Finance to analyze compensation program funding and support compensation related expense accruals and forecasts
  • Create measurements of overall effectiveness and competitiveness of compensation and total rewards programs and practices
  • Ensure that the compensation team comply with all applicable federal laws and guidelines (e.g., ERISA, EEO, FLSA, FMLA)
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources, Statistics, Business Management/Administration, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in compensation and a thorough understanding of compensation practices and trends
  • Strong spreadsheet and financial modeling skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets required
  • Exceptional quantitative skills with a commitment to accuracy and details
  • Strong aptitude for research, analysis, and sharing insights
  • Deadline-oriented and flexible to meet changing requirements of the role
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency with the Python programming language and the Pandas library
  • Proficiency using Google Data Studio, Tableau or other tools to develop dashboards at scale
  • Familiarity with Workday reporting a plus
