Drive Testing Engineer - Virginia-VA

Job Description:

• Responsible for conducting complex device and/or network system feature validations and perform engineering activities to maximize device/network connectivity and performance.
• Duties may include Developing Test Plan and Test Cases, Functional and Service-related certification activities for new network elements, Regulatory and KPI testing in static and mobility conditions.
• Conduct complex Feature and Interoperability Testing (setup test scenarios, perform data, voice, video, latency, and application-based tests) of 5G/LTE technologies in lab/field.
• Coordinate device/network readiness with all teams (Internal and External) to conduct seamless Customer experience service validation.
• Test Engineer will support execution of Test Cases/Test Suites and debug issues in operator defined NRCA/VoLTE/EPSFB/VoNR/VoWiFi/E911/RCS/Mobile Edge Compute test plans, data and log collection, detailed issue triage in US operator and 3rd party vendor field/lab environment.
• Closely monitor project progress and risks and ensure timely escalation of critical issues to team management and client.
• Perform Test Plan analysis, device SW download, setup device logging tools and perform sanity testing to ensure SW readiness for LTE/5G chipset devices.
• Work experience resolving complex device and network issues through comprehensive log analysis; troubleshooting end to end flows to ensure call delivery optimization.
• Use various data sources like OM data, Drive test data, App-based measurements and perform complex root-cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• Raise/track bugs, Initial issue analysis to find device or script issue, prepare test results and send daily status updates to various stakeholders at the client.
• Attain a detailed understanding of vendor-specific key performance indicator (KPI), Join troubleshooting and brainstorming sessions with cross functional engineers to isolate network/device/script issues.

• The Skills Required:

• Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years related work experience of device testing and feature testing experience on different technologies including LTE/5G with different infrastructure providers and/or operator.
• Experience in supporting Technology Trials – New feature validation support, Lab/Live – network testing, Integration testing, Troubleshooting/Join debugging with carrier lab/SME’s.
• Direct experience providing optimization for LTE/VoLTE/EPSFB/5G connectivity and performance, including solid drive testing experience and post processing, layers 1-5 analysis, evaluation of Key Performance Indicators, and proficiency with traffic and mobility management.
• Excellent knowledge and experience of Qualcomm tools (QXDM, QCAT), XCAL, XCAP, UmetrixVoiceLM, LMA, Wireshark, Android debug tools and Issue Management System.
• Proficiency in fundamental LTE, 5G, 3GPP IMS call flows, the TCP, UDP, SIP, RTP protocol, Layer 3 signaling.
• Proficient with VoLTE/VoNR/EPS-FB and Carrier Aggregation optimization evaluating KPIs, call flows, troubleshooting device/RAN/core issues.
• Ability to develop Test Cases Plans and execution for Devices in different network environments.
• Documentation and Reporting bugs clearly and accurately, escalating discrepancies, anomalies or issues with Test cases, device SW or device/RAN feature sets.
