POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Associate (DA) is under the supervision of the Development Manager and responsible for supporting the administrative tasks within the development department. (S)he helps maintain donor information through the organization’s customer relationship software, Salesforce. (S)he supports efforts of the development team through assistance with regular administrative tasks including data management, recordkeeping, mailings, event and volunteer management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completes a broad variety of administrative tasks for the Vice President of Advancement including: assisting in setting appointments, completing expense reports; composing and preparing correspondence that are confidential; arranging complex and detailed travel plans, itineraries, and agendas; and compiling documents for travel-related meetings.
- Manages the data entry for donations including preparations of personalized acknowledgement letters within 48 hours upon receipt of donations.
- Updates donor information in database on an ongoing basis including tracking obituaries, change of address, bad address, key dates, etc. and works with organization’s staff to ensure donor visits/tours/contacts are tracked.
- Develops and maintains a centralized donor filing system for electronic files for donors including individuals, corporations, and foundations and planned giving.
- Assist with event management through assembling sponsorship proposal packages, solicitation of in-kind items, donation pickup, printing event materials, preparing signage and nametags, etc.
- Ensures confidentiality of the donor database, contributions and donor records in all phases of works.
- Manages in-house printing, assembly, and mailing for marketing, appeals, events and other projects
- Provides general administrative support to the department and Vice President of Advancement, including note taking, purchasing, vendor research, expense reporting and other duties as assigned
- Attends and provides support at CASL events including the Spring Social, Winter Gala, Chinese New Year Parade, Summer Fair and other events as planned
- Assist with volunteer program including responding to individual inquiries, updating job descriptions on third party sites, adding volunteer data into the donor database and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years of professional work experience in related roles required
- Must have a strong personal commitment to the mission, vision and values of CASL
- Experience in an office environment preferred
- Knowledge of computer systems required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and database programs
- Able to communicate (verbal and written) and work effectively with volunteers, staff, and outside vendors
- Able to manage details and follow through with a minimum amount of direct supervision
- Superb organizational skills and attention to detail

Physical Demands:
- Required to frequently sit for extended periods and work extensively on a computer.
- Required to occasionally lift/move objects weighing in excess of 25 pounds.
Environment and Scheduling:
- Work is performed primarily during standard business hours, Monday through Friday. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
- Must be flexible and available to work additional hours when necessary.
